Season finale time is upon us again, and first up for me is the snarkiest show on television,
Veronica Mars.
The season finale made, what was on occasion a horribly frustrating second season, more the worth the adventure. Veronica Mars pays off the long-time fan better than any other show since Buffy and Angel. The downside to this is, it makes it hard to simply jump in the middle.
I say the second season was frustrating because creator Rob Thomas buried so many threads into the second season that it was impossible to catch all the clues on the first viewing, and there were so many it was hard to keep straight. Also, every time Veronica Mars went on hiatus, I was more confused when it came back on than Patrick Kennedy trying to drive through a gate after he's had one too many. A second viewing of the second season, however, helped make the brilliance of this show shine through.
And now we know who crashed the bus, and why. We also got to see not only this season's killer get what was coming to him, but last season's evil doer gets his own as well. This episode also included a scene where Lilly stands in front of her own memorial fountain and asks, "What's this?" I have just one favor to ask of creator Rob Thomas: don't ever kill Veronica's dad. I just don't think I could handle that kind of loss, and I'm not nearly as cute bawling like a baby as Veronica is.
All in all, I give this finale 3/4 stars. It gets points off for some bad pacing; the show would have been served better by a two hour finale. Trying to cram as much as they did into one episode made for some of the most important scenes of the show being a bit rushed. Also, try as a might, I cannot bring myself to care about Wallace and Jackie in the slightest, and the three minutes the episode spends with them was three too many.
Finally, I just want to say, "Please, please, please, don't let this be the last episode of Veronica Mars ever." Listen here CW, you've gotta pick this show up. I need to know what's going to happen to Weevil, what Kendall wanted with Veronica's dad, and if Wallace will get swallowed by a black hole, never to be heard from again. (Just kidding) (Okay, not really.)
Just let me say this. If you're not watching this show, or worse yet, haven't even heard of this show, give it a shot. I promise, after you've seen the first season and solved the murder of Lilly Kane, you will thank me over and over again. And now you've got no excuse, because
