When she lay her hand on his arm, Wesley closed his eyes for a moment, reaching over to rest his own hand over hers. He recalled how everything had been with Fred when both of them had been under Jasmine's happiness influence, how blissful and wonderful it had been, sharing kisses. And then Jasmine had convinced them that something was wrong with Fred and he had chased after her. He was glad that she didn't blame him despite it all. He didn't think he could have beared it if she had. And she was probably right about what would have happened had their positions been reversed.
Gently, he squeezed her hand. What had happened with Jasmine was part of what made him so weary about this offer from Wolfram and Hart. Not only was it because of what had happened with Jasmine, but also there was the question of what going there would do to them. Would they lose themselves to the firm the way they had lost themselves to Jasmine?
So when Fred admitted that the offer scared her, he nodded, glad that he wasn't the only one to feel the same way. He was sure that they would tempt them with what things they might most want, and he was afraid that if they even stepped in there, they would be lost from that moment on.
"In all honesty...you're the only thing I want." He felt his cheeks redden at that and suddenly wondered if he had said too much. He then took a deep breath and told her, "I don't want to lose you either, and I'm afraid I will if we step one foot in that place. I don't think we should go."
Fred felt her cheeks warm with a blush when Wesley said all he wanted was her. She felt the same way, and nodded when he said they shouldn't go. "We shouldn't. We need to stay away from there," she said before frowning. "But I don't know if the others will listen to us. I tried to talk to all of them about this, and they didn't want to listen."
With a soft sigh, she moved closer to Wesley, and lift his arm up so she could duck under. Fred then laid her head against his shoulder, hoping he wasn't bothered by it. They had done it plenty of times when Jasmine was there. "If the others go, then I don't think they'll come back, and we'll be left to fight by ourselves," she said, looking up into his eyes. "But I rather it be just us, here, then us, there."
She didn't want to think about her friends going to that awful place but Fred wasn't as naive as she had been at one time. She knew that Angel, Charles, and Lorne had their own ways of dealing with things, and they did things their own way. And if they wanted to go on the tour, then there was nothing she could do to stop them.
"I'm just glad you're staying," she whispered as she snuggled closer to Wesley.
"I don't know what the others are thinking, honestly," Wesley said with a sigh - almost as the same time Fred let out one of her own. He gave her a soft smile when he felt her tugging at his arm, so he allowed her to move it so she could cuddle up against him. Wrapping his arm around her, he leaned against her and closed his eyes for a moment. Even if it was just the two of them...then it would be them. He knew they'd be able to figure things out together. He knew they'd...
She suddenly voiced what he was thinking, and he opened his eyes, looking down at her and nodding. "I'd prefer that, too," he told her. "I don't want the others to go either, but that's a choice they have to make, and as long as I don't lose you...as long as we're together...in this, whatever we decide to do, then that's the most important thing."
He gave her a smile when she said that he was glad that he was staying. Crooking his finger under her chin, he lifted her face up so he could gaze into her eyes. "I couldn't go anywhere without you," he told her before leaning down to press his lips to hers, the kiss gentle for a moment before deepening.
Fred liked it when Wesley held her. It made her feel safe, and warm. It was gentle and loving, unlike how Gunn held her. He tried, but he wasn't all that gentle. Snuggling even closer, Fred listened as Wesley spoke, her head against his chest, listening to his heart beat. She agreed with everything he was saying, and nodded her head.
Then she felt his finger under her chin, and Fred looked up at him. Wesley had the most amazing blue eyes, and she knew she could spend hours just staring into them. And when he leaned forward to kiss her, Fred felt her eyes flutter close as his lips touched hers.
It didn't matter how many times they did this, it would always feel new and exciting. She parted her lips a little and groaned when their tongues touched. Her hand moved up and she placed it on the side of his face, feeling the stubble tickle her palm. And when she needed air, she slowly pulled back and looked up into his eyes.
"I like it when we do that," she whispered, leaning forward for another one. Fred stopped though when she heard a door click shut. With a frown, she looked at Wesley before standing and going over to the window. The limo was there now and Angel had just opened the back door to it. "All of them are going."
For so long, Wesley had only dreamed about being able to kiss Fred. It had been a fantasy he had almost thought would never come true until the day he had finally thrown caution to the wind and had kissed her in the office, needing to show her just how he felt. And she had responded, only pushing him away when Gunn had approached.
Oh, Gunn. How badly that had gone. Wesley would always regret what that had done to their friendship, but he would never - could never - regret his feelings for Fred. Especially, when to his suprise, the relationship between them had later taken a turn when they had been trying to search for a way to restore Angel's soul after it had been stolen and they had kissed again. He almost thought that everything would be derailed when Angelus told her about Lilah and him...but they had talked it out.
And now, here they were. And he was kissing her, and it far surpassed any of the dreams he had. The reality was definitely better than the fantasy, especially with the way she slid her hand up his collarbone or touched his face.
When they finally broke apart for air, he smiled at her. "I like it too."
But before they could kiss again, they were distracted by the sound of the door. When Fred went over to the window and said the others were going, he stood up and joined her, looking down through the courtyard to the pavement in front of the hotel. Sure enough, Gunn was climbing into the limo, Angel right behind him. Wesley sighed when Angel paused for a moment and looked back briefly before getting in and closing the door. The limo then pulled away and disappeared up the street.
"I guess that's it then," he said softly, shaking his head as he wrapped his arms around Fred, glad that she was still there. He rested his head on hers. "It's you and me, love."
Fred sighed as she watched them get into the limo. When Wesley wrapped his arms around her, she pressed against him and nodded. "We'll do fine," she said, with confidence in her voice. "And when Cordy comes back, maybe she'll help us. After smacking Angel around for going to the firm that is."
Mentioning Cordy's name made Fred furrow her brow. How could Angel go to tour Wolfram and Hart while his son and the woman he cared about was still out there, and missing? It almost seemed like he was under the firm's influence already. Stepping away from Wesley, she looked at up him.
"Maybe we should go downstairs and see if there's any leads on Connor and Cordy?" She looked down at her pajamas and shook her head before looking at him again. "After I change that is." Leaning up, she softly kissed him and pulled away. "Just let me get some clothes on and we can go down." She went over to her closet and picked some clothes out. Setting them on the bed, she started to pull her top off when she remembered she wasn't alone.
"Oh, god, I...sorry," she said with a blush. "Maybe I should change in the, um, bathroom."
When Fred mentioned Cordy coming back, Wesley smiled for a moment, knowing that their friend would most definitely kick Angel's ass when she found out what was going on. When. He sighed - realizing that they still hadn't found her or Connor.
So at her suggestion that they go down and see if there were any leads, he nodded, reluctantly releasing her so she could go change. Looking out the window for a moment, he rubbed his hand over the bottom of his face. He never thought he would see the day when Angel would put Wolfram and Hart over Cordy and Connor, especially given everything that had happened.
As Fred crossed over to the bed, he turned to watch her for a moment, his eyes opening wide when she started pulling up her shirt. There was a flash of breast, and Wesley suddenly felt himself stop breathing and his body begin to stir. Oh God, she was so beautiful.
"Perhaps...I should go wait in the hall," he offered, raising her eyes to hers and giving her a gentle smile as he prayed his voice didn't crack on him. "After all, this is your room."
Walking past her toward the door, he stopped and gave her a soft kiss and brushed a strand of her hair back from her face. Then he went outside to wait, leaning against the wall and taking several deep breaths to bring his body back under control.
Fred was sure she was turning four different shades of red as she clenched the bottom of her pajama top. Oh god, she hadn't been wearing a bra, which meant Wesley had seen...the thought made her blush even more. "I-I guess," she meekly said, almost hoping he would just stay.
She wouldn't deny that she'd thought of them together, and what it might be like. When he kissed her, Fred wanted to grab him and make him stay with her but she didn't. Instead, she watched him walk out of the room. And with a long sigh, Fred quickly got dressed and stepped out into the hallway.
"We should probably get downstairs," she said, motioning toward the steps. She took his hand and went down the staircase. Going behind the counter, she checked the answering machine but there wasn't any messages. She was about to say something to Wesley when the front door opened a guy hurried in.
"You have to help me!" the man anxiously said. "It took my girlfriend!"
Standing out in the hall, Wesley stared up at the ceiling as he willed his body to settle down before Fred came out from getting dressed. She probably had no idea the kind of effect she had on him, how even a simple look was enough to arose him. Seeing her breasts and her slim stomach - even just the flash - had almost been too much for him to handle.
He took a deep breath, slowly feeling himself starting get control back, and just in time too as Fred came out of the bedroom. Giving her a smile when she said they should head down, he took her hand happily though he had to force his body to stay under control for a few more moments.
While Fred checked the machine, he went into the office and started the computer, intending to see if any of his contacts had found anything on Connor and Cordelia and e-mailed him. Before he had a chance to check, however, a man came running in, saying something had taken his girlfriend. Hurrying out to join Fred as she helped him to sit down on the couch, Wesley crouched down next to him.
"What took her?" he asked.
"I--something! It was...big and brown and looked...looked like a bug...or a bear without fur...or bug bear! I don't know. It just grabbed her and took her into the sewers!" He looked at them, his eyes wide and haunted. "My friend said you could help me. Please - I love her so much. You have to find her."
Wesley nodded, seeing the expression in the other man's eyes, knowing exactly what he was feeling. He then looked up at Fred. "Just where was she taken?"
"About three blocks from here, near where we work in the industrial park."
