Wesley wanted to tell Fred that he planned to always treat her like a princess, but before he could, they were in the middle of a deep kiss. He reached up to cup the back of her neck, pulling her close. Part of him wanted so much to protect her and make sure that nothing happened to her while another part of him knew that she could take care of herself. After all, she had for five years. She was so much stronger than so many people gave her credit for.
When they parted, he watched as she got off the bed and got a dress out before heading for the bathroom. At her invitation to help her, he chuckled and pushed himself up, crossing the room to join her in the bathroom.
"Milady asked for a backwasher?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
Turning on the shower, he let it come up to temperature before taking Fred's hand and helping her to step into the tub under the spray. He then picked up the soap and sponge and turned her around so he could wash her back.
"I also happen to me a good all-over body washer," he told her as he moved the sponge across her lower back. "If the lady is so inclined."
Fred giggled when Wesley said he was a good backwasher. “You’re such a dork at times,” she said before winking at him. She was about to say more but all was forgotten when Wesley started to wash her back. It felt so good and she moaned. “All-over? Yes please,” she breathed.
Wesley had the most loving touch of anyone she’d been with. With her eyes closed, she allowed Wesley to wash her and when he was finished, she took the sponge away from him. “My turn,” Fred murmured as she soaped the sponge again and started washing him.
For once, the touching didn’t turn into sex, and Fred was glad. She was looking forward to going to the pier and having something to eat. She hadn’t been hit by morning sickness yet, but she knew it would come soon enough and she wanted to enjoy some food before it did.
When the shower was finished, Fred went into the bedroom and dropped her towel. Giving Wesley a sly grin, she went over to the closet and stood there. “What should I wear? Or should I just go like this?” she asked, motioning toward her naked body.
Wesley fought to keep himself under control while Fred washed him, knowing that if he didn't they'd never get out of there. It was obvious that Fred was quite looking forward to going to the pier, so he didn't want to disappoint her. He never wanted to disappoint her. They had both been through so much just to get to this point, and he had promised that he'd do everything within his power to make her happy.
Once they were out of the shower, he wrapped his towel around him and followed Fred out into the bedroom. When she dropped hers, showing off her beautiful naked body, Wesley took a deep breath and forced himself to stay down even though part of him wanted to go over to her and take her back to bed.
"I'd...not to sound neanderthal, but I rather not have to share your body with the rest of the world, love," he said, giving her a smirk. "Part of me rather likes being to only one who gets to see you. Well, besides the doctor, but that's not the same. After all, if you were to walk down the pier in nothing at all, everyone would be looking at you because you're so beautiful."
He paused. "And then we'd probably get arrested for indecent exposure, and you wouldn't get to do any of the fun things that you wanted to do." He pointed to the dress she had pulled out earlier and left by the closet door. "I think that dress would be a very good choice."
Leaning down he picked up the jeans and shirt he had worn to the appointment that morning. "These should still be okay, I would think."
Fred gave Wesley a small pout when he shot down her idea of going to the pier naked. She knew she wouldn’t do it, but her idea hadn’t even gotten a rise out of Wesley. He was either really hungry or was using self-control. “Spoiled sport,” she said before huffing a little.
She went over to the dresser and pulled out a bra. After putting it on, she turned and watched Wesley get dressed. “You’re so beautiful,” she breathed before giving him a shy smile. She then slipped the dress on and grinned. “Since I can’t be naked, than I’m going to be panty less!”
When both of them were ready, they went down to went down to Wesley’s jeep and got in. The pier wasn’t too far from the hotel and when they arrived, Fred showed Wesley where the restaurant was. It wasn’t very crowded and they got a booth right away.
After the waitress gave them their menus, Fred opened hers and looked through it. “Everything looks really good but I don’t know how much I should eat!” she said.
When Fred called him a spoil sport, Wesley chuckled softly and shook his head. She probably had no clue how much self-control it was taking not to take her back to bed and make love to her again, how hard he had to fight with himself at the sight of her so naked and beautiful.
He had just pulled his jeans up when Fred told him he was beautiful, finding himself blushing a bit. Then she said she was going pantyless while they were out and he heard himself groan softly. The thought of knowing that she wasn't wearing any was arousing...and only the two of them would know.
He managed to finish getting himself ready, and they headed down to the pier. The restaurant was a nice little place. It had been a while since they had gone out together since they had been working so hard on getting things ready for the move.
"Fred, love, you should eat as much as you need to," Wesley told her when she wondered out loud, giving her a smile. "You and the baby both need the nourishment, so don't worry if you're eating too much."
Reaching up, he cupped her cheek. "Although one thing I do believe I remember seeing is that you shouldn't have any caffeine. We're going to have to remember to start buying decaf coffee, I suppose, if you want any." His hand moved down to rest of her stomach, still amazed. "And I guess we'll need to go to the library as soon as we can."
"It's not that," Fred said as she sat her menu down. "I don't want to eat too much and get sick. I still don't know if I'm going to have morning sickness, afternoon sickness, evening sickness, or all day sickness. I don't wanna over do it and get sick," Fred explained. Making a face, she suddenly realized talking about being sick was making her stomach flip a little. "I think I'll just eat something light."
When Wesley started talking about coffee and decaf, Fred's eyes widen. No caffeine? How was she supposed to function without caffeine? "That's cruel," she muttered as she looked at him. "No real coffee? That's not fair. And chocolate! That has caffeine too!" Reaching over, she cupped his face. "You're lucky I'm in love with you or I'd be really upset with you right now. Although, I might get you back when I get all hormonal," she said before softly kissing him.
The waitress came over to the table to take their order, and Fred reluctantly ended the kiss. She glanced at the menu and quickly scanned it. "I'll have a club sandwich with French fries and milk," she said with a smile. She handed the menu to the waitress and waited for Wesley to order.
Once the waitress had walked off, Fred smiled and leaned over so she could resume kissing Wesley.
"Ahh," Wesley responded in understanding. He never enjoyed being sick himself, so he wasn't surprised that Fred didn't want to do anything to cause anything to exacerbate her possible morning sickness. The idea of her being ill was definitely something he didn't like as well.
"I promise to help you anyway I can," he told her, reaching over and rubbing her stomach gently. "I'll make sure there's plenty of crackers and lemon-lime soda in the hotel."
He had been afraid, though, that she would react the way she did upon hearing that coffee wasn't a good thing to have. "Well, I think chocolate is okay. Doesn't have quite as much caffeine," he told her before she kissed him, hoping that might placate her a bit. He smiled against her lips, though, knowing that however "hormonal" she might get, he was the luckiest man in the world right now.
He reluctantly pulled back when the waitress walked over, and while Fred placed her order, he took one last look at the menu. "I'll have a chicken sandwich and fries," he told her. "You don't happen to have hot tea, do you?"
"Just iced."
Wesley thought for a moment, then nodded. "I suppose that'll have to do."
A moment later, he found Fred kissing him again and wrapped his arms around her. He noticed a couple of people looking their way - one of them obviously a bit put out by their public display of affection, but Wesley didn't care. He had waited too long for this, and he was damn well going to enjoy having Fred in his life and his arms and his bed.
When they finally parted, Wesley rested his forehead against hers while caressing her cheek. Part of him wished that he had family members he could share their news with like she did, but he didn't know how his parents would take the news, especially his father. And he didn't want to expose Fred to that, not if he could help it.
"Here are your drinks," the waitress said, returning and setting Fred's milk and Wesley's iced tea down in front of them. "Anything else I can get you two while you're waiting for your food?"
"No," Wesley said, not taking his eyes from Fred. "I think we're fine."
"Better than fine," Fred murmured as she stared at Wesley. The waitress smiled and muttered something about young love before she walked off.
Even though Fred didn't want to, she eventually pulled away and unwrapped her straw and placed it into her milk. She eyed Wesley's iced tea and then looked at him. "That has caffeine in it. I think after today you should stop drinking tea if I have to stop drinking coffee," she said with an amused look. She knew she wouldn't deny him his tea, but it was fun teasing him.
She took a long drink from the milk and looked toward the window. "You know, there's a cheap bookstore down here. They sell books for half off. Maybe we can pick up a couple baby books. We should have a couple for reference and we can't keep the ones from the library for that long," Fred pointed out. "Plus, I would love to get one of those baby books where you can track your pregnancy and the first year of your baby's life. That'd be so cute."
There was a lot of things Fred wanted to get. One of them being a digital camera so they could take a lot of pictures and e-mail them to her parents. Also, she wanted to video cam to record the pregnancy. But, they had to get some cases and money first.
Looking over at Wesley, she smiled and ran her fingers through his hair. "I love you," she whispered.
After lunch, during which Wesley was sure they almost sent the waitress into sugar shock, he and Fred headed down to the bookstore just off the pier and found some of the books that the doctor had reccommended they get and read during the pregnancy. A couple of them were thick tomes that almost put the codexes Wesley owned to shame. They even found one of the tracking books that Fred wanted. There was no way they were going to drag them around with them while they continued their day out on the pier, though, so once they had paid for them (and Wesley was very glad that they were discounted), he took them to the Jeep and put them in the boot out of view.
Returning to Fred, he smiled at her and took her hand, squeezing it tight. "If you're still feeling all right, we could take a walk down on the beach," he suggested as they walked back down toward the oceanfront.
He had just wrapped his arm around her and kissed her forehead when a familiar voice called out, "Wesley?"
Turning while still keeping his arm around Fred, he felt his jaw drop slightly when he saw the woman walking up towards him, her curly red hair pulled back from her face. "Virginia?"
"It really is you. You look so...different!" she said as she joined them. "Good different. Wow...it's been so long. How--how are you?"
Wesley smiled broadly. "I'm doing well - really well actually. Virginia, I'd like you to meet Fred, my girlfriend." He almost shook his head at that, realizing that didn't really seem to correctly identify everything that she meant to him. "More like my girlfriend, best friend and the best thing that ever happened to me."
"That's quite a mouthful," Virginia noted with a raised eyebrow. "Hi...nice to meet you."
"Virginia and I dated a few years ago," Wesley told Fred, his hand caressing her side gently. "What have you been up to since then?"
"Getting married," she told him with a smile and holding up her hand. "It was in all the papers. What about you two?"
Wesley looked at Fred. "Well, umm...we haven't...had a chance to talk about it. Yet."
Fred was happy with what they'd gotten at the bookstore. She couldn't wait to start filling out the baby book when they got back to the hotel. Her parents had kept one for her, and she made a mental note to have her mother send it to them so they could look through it. She wondered if Wesley had one too, but didn't know if they did that sort of thing in England.
They were walking along when someone said Wesley's name. Fred smiled at Virginia when Wesley introduced her. "Nice to meet you," she said with a grin. "We've sort of met before. When you got married, Cordy showed me the article in the paper."
"So, you work with them? With the fighting demons?" Virginia asked.
"Yeah. Even fight them myself," Fred said, grinning up at Wesley.
"And it doesn't bother you?"
"Not at all. Wesley's one of the best demon hunters I know," Fred said.
Virginia just nodded and looked over her shoulder. "My husband is done with his errand so I should probably join him. If you ever decide to get married, give me a call and I'll set you up with my planner," she said before walking off.
Fred turned and looked at Wesley. "If we ever get married, we're having a small ceremony. Maybe in Texas. Did you know she had one-hundred doves released? Overkill, much?" she said, shaking her head.
She then leaned up and softly kissed him. "Winifred Wyndam-Pryce. It has a nice ring to it, don't you think?" she asked after she'd pulled away. "Come on. I think I want to take my wonderful boyfriend home and show him how I'm not wearing any panties."
When they parted, he watched as she got off the bed and got a dress out before heading for the bathroom. At her invitation to help her, he chuckled and pushed himself up, crossing the room to join her in the bathroom.
