As they sat in the exam room waiting for the doctor to come in after Fred returned from giving them her sample, Wesley looked around, not sure what to say. This wasn't a situation he had ever expected to be in. Sure, he had thought about having a child with Fred, but he hadn't thought about it this way. He had thought about them having a house, being married, deciding together that they wanted to conceive.
Yet here they were, and there was a good possibility Fred was pregnant because they had made a mistake.
If she was pregnant, though...that wouldn't be a mistake. The baby wouldn't be a mistake. It was be wonderful. A miracle. A wonderful miracle because she or he was part of Fred and him.
Finally, the doctor came in and gave them news. Fred was pregnant. For a moment, he just sat there. Fred was pregnant. Looking over, he locked eyes with her, seeing the tears and worry in hers.
"It's...we're going to be parents?" He hadn't meant it to come out as a question, but it did, and the doctor answered him with an affirmative. He glanced over, a chuckle rumbling in his throat, before he turned back to Fred and pulled her into his arms. "We're going to be parents. Oh, Fred...this is...I am...I'm happy. Surprised but happy."
He kissed her, then suddenly realized something and pulled back, looking at her. "You're happy too, aren't you?"
Fred continued to cry, feeling foolish, but she was afraid Wesley didn't want the baby. But, when he grabbed her and pulled her against him, she let out a sigh of relief. He was happy she was pregnant, and when he pulled back and asked if she was happy, Fred eagerly nodded her head.
"Of course I am," she whispered as she placed her forehead against his. "And considering everything else that happened that day, I would say this is a miracle."
She started to slowly kiss Wesley, and soon the kisses deepened. The doctor cleared her throat and Fred pulled back and gave her a sheepish look. "Sorry," she muttered before poking Wesley in the side.
"It's okay," the doctor said as she pulled out some out a stack of brochures. "I thought you two would like to look these over. There's also a schedule of the appointments you'll need to keep, plus a list of a few books I recommend to all my patients. Do you have any questions?"
Fred wiped her eyes dry. "I don't," she said before looking at Wesley. "Do you sweetie?"
Fred was right - the day of their baby's conception had been a miracle, considering he had almost died down in the sewers. But instead, he had lived, and they had created a new life together. In the middle of all the loss - of their friends, of the life they had known with them - they had truly started something new that day.
In retrospect, Wesley thought as he kissed Fred, pulling her close, it seemed right. He deepened the kiss, suddenly wanting her more than anything right then.
"Ow," he mumbled when she suddenly broke away and poked him. "What was--oh."
He looked over at the doctor and took the brochures, appointment schedule and book list, feeling his eyes widen a bit as he read over everything that was written down. There was quite a lot there. He glanced over at Fred when she asked if he had any questions and found that his mind was drawing a complete blank even though he knew there was a lot that he did want to ask about.
"I...uh...well, I'm sure that I will, but...perhaps after we've had a chance to read through all of these?" he asked, holding up the list before giving Fred a gentle smile. "It'll give us some light bedtime reading."
"Well, bring your questions with you to the next appointment, but if there's anything that you need to know right away, feel free to call, and I'll get back to you," Fred's doctor told them. "Congratulations, you two."
Once the doctor had left, Wesley looked over at Fred, reaching out to help her off the examination table. "I...I feel like we should be celebrating this. Do you feel up to doing something? Or do you want to go back and rest at the hotel while I do some more unpacking?"
It did seem like a lot of books, and Fred figured they could probably check some of them out from the library. She wasn't worried about reading them though, since Wesley and her both liked to read. She nodded her head when the doctor said to bring their questions to the next appointment. Fred already had a few but knew they could wait until next time.
When Wesley asked her if she wanted to go back to the hotel to rest, Fred gave him a shy look. "I want to go back to the hotel, but not to rest or unpack," she quietly said before she leaned up and softly kissed him. "Maybe afterwards we can have lunch someplace."
Taking Wesley's hand, Fred led him out of the doctor's office and out to his Jeep. She got in and made sure her seatbelt was on right before they headed back to the hotel. When they got there, Fred led Wesley up to their room and shut the door behind them. "I think this is going to be so much better than unpacking," she said before softly kissing.
Fred then reached down and placed his hand on her still-flat stomach. "This has been one of the happiest days on my life," she whispered as she smiled at him.
When Fred said she wanted to go back to the hotel, but not for the reasons he had suggested, Wesley raised an eyebrow, wondering if what she had in mind was what he thought she did. He had a feeling it was and was happy to let her lead him out of the office. He couldn't help but look at her as they walked out to the car park to the Jeep.
Pregnant. Fred wad pregnant. Their child was growing inside her. He had told her the truth - he was happy, very happy, to be having a baby with Fred, but at the same time, he was a bit anxious. He wanted to be a good father to this child, nothing like his father. He just prayed that he could be, that Fred's apparent faith in him and them was justified.
When the reached the hotel, he followed Fred up to the room. As he ran his hand over her stomach, he marvelled for a moment. He'd be there with her every step of the way, he vowed. He was going to protect both of them with everything he had.
"Besides today, the happiest day of my life was when I met you," he told her, his hand caressing over her stomach as he leaned in to kiss her. He slipped his hand under her shirt and across her soft skin. He could feel himself stirring but wanted Fred to take the lead in this, let him know what she wanted this though he was fairly sure she did. "You're so beautiful."
Fred smiled as Wesley's hand slipped over her stomach. They were really going to be parents! She couldn't believe it. Part of her wanted to get on the phone and call her parents, while another part wanted to keep the news to herself. Maybe she'd wait before calling them. Besides, right now all she wanted was to be with Wesley, the man who'd given her such a wonderful gift. "You're going to be a wonderful daddy, Wesley," she whispered as he slid his hand under her shirt.
She knew what she wanted and she didn't want to wait for it any longer. Reaching over, she pulled Wesley's shirt off him before setting to work on his jeans. Fred wanted him naked because he was the most beautiful man she knew, and she looked looking at him in his natural form.
Once she'd taken his clothes off, she set on getting herself naked as well. When she was, Fred looked at Wesley and smiled. "You're beautiful, standing there all naked. And pretty hot too," she whispered before softly kissing him. She then pulled him down onto the bed and reached for the bedside table out of habit.
Fred had the condom out of the drawer by the she realized what she'd done. "Guess we won't need these for a while," she said with a little giggle. She tossed the condom to the floor and pulled Wesley down for a kiss.
As Fred helped him out of his shirt and jeans, Wesley smiled - he had been right about what she obviously wanted. He wondered if this was normal for pregnant women. Of course, they had made love several times before now, so possibly not. But then...she had got pregnant the first time they had been together...
When she took off her own clothes, however, Wesley lost track of his thoughts, instead concentrating on the beautiful woman before him. The beautiful woman who was carrying his child. He smiled at her, cupping one hand to her face as they kissed while the other moved across her skin.
"You're beautiful too," he told her, his cock hardening from both her closeness and the promise of what they were about to do. "See what you do to me?"
Once they were one the bed, he watched as she pulled out the condom, and then his smile widened when he realized that she was right. They didn't need it any longer. At least not for now. He let her pull him into another kiss while his hands caressed over her, down her torso and up between her legs. When his fingers dipped into her warm folds, he could feel that she was already wet.
"Need you, love," he told her, shifting between her legs, wanting badly to be inside her. Pressing his cock to her entrance, he hissed softly against her lips as he slid inside her - with no barrier between them, the feeling was so much more wonderful. "God, you're so wonderful."
Hooking his arms under hers, he held her to him as he began thrusting into her.
Fred hissed when she could feel Wesley’s erection brush against her thigh. She felt herself throb with the knowledge that she alone had caused this reaction from him. When he pressed inside of her, she let out a throaty moan. She could feel the heat from his cock since there wasn’t a condom between him.
“God, Wesley,” she moaned as her legs slipped around his waist so he could get deeper. She held him tighter and raised her hips up to meet his thrusts. This was the beginning of a new life for them. Before, it’d just been them taking over the business, but now they were a family. And she knew they would get through it.
“Thank you, Wesley...for everything,” she whispered as she felt her body start to tighten up. He knew how to touch her like no other. “I love you so much and I always will.”
Tightening her grip on him, Fred pressed against the bed as her body started to tremble underneath him. “Wesley!” she cried out as her orgasm hit her.
Wesley almost couldn't believe he was here. He didn't like to think about what his life had been this time last year - isolated, thinking he had lost everything he cared about. It had been the darkest time of his life, even moreso than his own childhood.
Now, he was with Fred, and they were going to have a baby. He had been worried about the fact that they were losing their family, but now they were creating their own. It was scary and frightening and wonderful and amazing.
He drove into her deeper, feeling his throat tighten when she thanked him. Didn't she realize? It was him that should be thanking her. For saving his life in so many ways. For giving him a second chance. For creating this life with him.
"My beautiful Fred," he whispered, feeling her beginning to tremble. He groaned when she clenched around him and thrust into her a few more times until his own body reached its release, white exploding behind his eyes. As his warmth flooded into her, he held her tight, never wanting to let her go.
"I love you," he told her, his breathing ragged. "I can never say thank you enough."
Fred didn’t know if it was the pregnancy hormones, but she felt tears spring to her eyes as Wesley thanked her. Gently nudging his face up, she cupped it and looked into his eyes. “You never have to thank me, sweetie. Loving you is the best thing I’ve ever done. I can’t imagine ever loving someone as much as I love you, and I never will. Nothing will ever tear us apart, or keep us from one another, I promise. We’re a family now.”
Leaning up, she softly kissed just as her cell phone started to ring. She rolled her eyes and sighed. “I should get that. It could be a client since I put my number on the new fliers also,” Fred whispered before nudging him off her.
Fred reached over and picked up her phone, and hit the talk button. “Hello. Angel Investigations,” she said.
“Fred?”
“Mom?”
“Hey sweetie! How y’all doing? Your dad and me got your message about taking over the hotel. Is everything working out?” Trish asked.
Fred smiled. “Everything’s fine, momma,” she said as she looked at Wesley and softly touched his cheek.
“How’s Wesley doing? He’s treating you right, ain’t he?” Her dad suddenly said. Fred figured he was on the other line.
“Wesley’s fine, daddy. We-We have some news,” Fred said as she took a deep breath. “We’re having a baby. We just found out today.”
“Oh! I’m going to be a grandma! Here that Roger? We’re going to be grandparents!” Trish happily said.
Fred waited for her dad to say something but at first he didn’t. “Fred?” he finally said.
“Yes, daddy?”
“Put Wesley on the phone.”
Fred chewed on her bottom lip and looked over at Wesley. “Okay,” she said as she held out the phone. “My dad wants to talk to you and I’m sorry for whatever he’s about to say.”
Wesley hadn't wanted to pull out of Fred, rather enjoying the feeling of being inside her and holding her like this, but when her phone rang, he had no choice. Sliding out of her with a soft sigh, he reached for a tissue and wiped himself off while she answered the phone. When he heard her say "Mom", he paused for a moment, wondering what she was going to tell them about their news. He knew that she had told them they were together - she had called them after he had taken her back to his place to live until the others had moved out of the hotel.
Their news, though...
Was apparently taken by her father about as he expected. Cringing when she handed the phone over to him, he took a deep breath and put the receiver to his ear.
"Mr. Burkle?" he asked, his voice threatening to crack.
"Didn't they teach you 'bout protection back where you come from, boy?"
Wesley swallowed, looking over at Fred and reaching out to take her hand. "Ye--yes, sir. We...there were some circumstances, and we made a mistake, but...the baby...we're happy about this. I'm going to do everything in my power to protect Fred and our child. I'll never leave them, no matter what happens."
There was a pause on the other end. "Well, blast it! There you go, ruining my perfectly good interrogation about your intentions toward my daughter."
"Roger!" Trish's horrified voice came over the line.
"I want to make sure that my daughter and our grandbaby are taken care of! I'm sure Wesley understands that. They haven't been together that long, you know," Roger told her.
Wesley smiled softly, thinking how different this Roger was from his own father who carried the same name. "I understand. Be assured, I love your daughter more than anything. I've loved her for a long time. Now that we're together, I don't intend to ever let her go."
"You going to be able to handle things?" Roger asked. "You two ain't exactly in a safe area of work."
"We'll make it work. We have plans for the hotel and the agency. And like I said, I'll keep Fred safe, whatever it takes."
"I suppose that's all I can ask for our baby."
"It's everything we'd want for her," Trish said. "Let us talk to her again."
Fred sat on the bed and nervously chewed her bottom lip. She was afraid of what her dad was saying to Wesley, but, when Wesley started to talk, saying how much he loved her, Fred smiled and squeezed his hand. They were going to be okay, and nothing bad was going to happen.
When Wesley handed the phone back to her, Fred took it and spoke to her mother for a few more minutes. Fred then said goodbye to her parents and ended the call. She then turned off her phone. "I don't want to be disturbed anymore today," she murmured before she leaned forward and softly kissed Wesley's lips. "Plus, I don't really want to share you today."
Snuggling against him, Fred ran her hand over his chest and kissed his shoulder. "We should go out tonight and do something fun! Oh! Remember the section of the Los Angeles Pier we helped clean up?" she asked as she grinned. "They renovated it and there's this cute little restaurant. It's like a 50's theme with hamburgers and malts. We should go there and have something to eat, then we can walk on the beach or check out the carnival."
