Indiana Cult Religions

So today I had my first experience of the Pentecostal Religion. This entry is going to be mentioning God and Faith- if you are offended by this please don't read it because it will not be worth your time. If you are of the Pentecostal Religion, I don't recommend you read this either because it may be offending. Also, I really don't want any anti-God comments because that is extremely childish and it makes my Livejournal experience very negative. Please don't read this unless you can be mature and listen to what I encountered. These are my feelings.

Today I went to church like I do every Sunday at the Bethel Christian Life Center right down the road in West Lafayette. The service starts at 10:30 but we're usually always late. :) It goes until noon or 1 depending on the topic and if there is 'no dismissal' where people can go to the front of the room and pray for however long it takes. We usually get out of there at quarter past.

When we got there I met up with Jessie and Alex and we sang for an hour like usual. Then Pastor Greg got up and was talking about Pentecostal Religion. Pentecostal Religion is a religion in which the people are so moved by God's power that they begin speaking in tongues unlike any of our worldly languages.

As I sat there with Jessie and Alex and read all the things on the powerpoint that we were supposed to write down, it occurred to me that Pentecostal Religion is unlike anything I ever grew up with.

By the end of the service, we were all asked to stand and pray a final time for the Tsunami victims and for the Pentecostal church. But with that, and elderly woman (I'd say she was at least 75) Began shouting in tongues. The pastor stopped and started crying. I looked around as I heard this woman speaking this unknown language and I was to say the least, extremely frightened. I was all by myself because Jessie and Alex had already left, and my parents were on the other side of the room. I had no idea what to say, do, or anything! The woman continued on screaming her  ?words? and people just stood there, as if this was the normal thing for them., Granted, it just may be, but it was not something I wanted to have anything to do with. As soon as she was done, MORE people began speaking this ?language? and I ran over to my parents and asked them if we could go because I was really shaken up.

We left and figured a Pentecostal church is not what we want as a family. We want to worship, yes, but not the way they do. It is just not for us.
