Day 20 continued - After finishing my last post and checking out of the hotel, I went on a five mile hike through the nearby state park. At some point it occurred to me that maybe a five mile hike by myself with no survival gear and no first aid kit, and no one knowing where I am is maybe not such a good idea. I didn't see a single person during the whole hike and at one point completely lost the trail and had no idea where I was. The whole hike took a lot more out of me then I expected.
Eventually found my way back to the trail and eventually the parking lot. Started to head toward Georgia.
Plan was to find a camp ground just inside Georgia as it took me longer to get there then I expected. I started heading to the nearest state park with a campground but didn't get there tell after dark. The situation was kind of fucked up. There was no one on duty at the gate enterance and a note said to take a map to find the campground, but there were no maps left and nothing to tell me how much it was to rent a campsite. When I eventually found the campground it was totally night. I spoke with the campground host who also didn't know how much it cost, but his wife said $26 + a $3 park parking fee. I was going to pay it but the camp site was obviously made for an RV, the ground over the entire campsite was hard crushed gravel and I couldn't pound in my tent spikes. So.... back into town and stayed the night at a motel... again.
Day 21 - I was thinking yesterday that I really need to do laundry and get a haircut. Turns out this little town has about eight different laundry-mats! Also one laundry-mat is connected to a barber.
Drove out of town around 1:00 and started making my way south east.
I am now writing this just outside of Gainesville....
... Georgia. He He He.
I thought it would be a hoot to see what Gainesville Georgia was like and on my way noticed this small town local library where I decided to stop and check my e-mail and update my blog.
