...Wait, what?

Okay, so. I've read a few things here and there (including the LJ of this thing's "organiser") and I'm no closer to figuring out quite what the point is of the "content strike". From a basic economics perspective, it's about as useful as launching an "exercise strike" on your gym by not using your membership - whoever owns LJ will still be getting your money if you have a Paid account, even if you aren't posting for a whole 24-hour period. So those evil, evil Powers That Be don't really care; they might notice a dent in their revenue from ad click-throughs, but when normal service resumes once this "strike" ends that'll go right back to normal anyway. In short, the only people being hurt (and I use the term loosely) by this are the ones who are so attached to their LiveJournal accounts they feel the need not to use it, since they're forcibly removing themselves from this website they feel so passionately about; it's like a druggie trying to go cold-turkey because they don't like their dealer any more.

Considering I went through 2007 at a posting-rate of about 1.25 posts per month, the whole concept seems ridiculous anyway - how is LJ that important to some people?

Anyways, life stuff. Went to Oceana last night for a bit of a catch-up with various guys and girls of sunny Sutton, that was... meh. To be honest, the night got less and less fun as it went on, not due to booze but just boredom; it feels like I have less and less in common with most of my southern friends these days. Not sure how much of a bad thing that is really, if we don't share interests as much then the whole thing becomes more like a habit than a proper friendship, and carrying on old habits for the sake of it is kinda silly. Of course, there are a few who I still think I have lots in common with, which is good. But yeah, long story short, Oceana last night just felt forced at times, there were a few out last night who I really don't have anything to talk about with these days. But, so life goes, people move on, eh?

Today... has been a bit of a write-off, unfortunately. Not due to drunkenness, since I specifically went out last night aiming not to get too drunk, but due to an unfortunate side-effect of my plans. See, to avoid becoming all drunk and annoying (which is A Bad Thing), I spent a lot of the night drinking various flavours of that sickly-sweet vodka alcopop that is VK. Now, unfortunately VK is quite gassy, and lacking a straw with which to filter the gas (in a manner of speaking) that gas went into me instead. So, I spent a fair bit of today feeling bloated and gassy, rather like a balloon, which sucked.

So, tomorrow I clear out my room in Cheam, tidying the place out so that the bed can be dismantled and removed, and later replaced by a different one. When I had a full-sized PC, this bunk-bed thingy with a desk replacing the lower bunk was quite handy, but with a laptop these days, and spending less than half my time at home at most, it's kinda redundant. So a more conventional bed will be coming soon, but first this tip needs tidying! So that'll be fun. Saturday, might be going up to Rushden with dad to see City playing away, which could be fun if we end up going. Then on Monday, it's back to Hull to get down to some Serious Dissertation Writing. Yay?

And that's that. Yeah...
