Is "vlad" IE cognate to "world" and does "imir" have to do with "emir"?

no it's more boring: vlad is an old slavic root which has spawned "vlast," power, "vladet," to own, to be in power over, and many others. mir means world and community.

the etymology i used to dissect nabokov's last name is much less sound.
