If I hadn't walked into Potions that day, what would have happened?
Hermione often asked herself that question. It was the first day of her seventh year, the day she actually stopped outsid a classroom for the first time in seven years and asked heraself if she really wanted to go inside. NEWT level Potions was not something she was looking forward to. She actually hesitated, books in one hand, the other hand nervously toying with her skirt. But when she opened the door, she noticed things were different.
If Severus hadn't decided to put some of his influence to use, what would have happened?
She wondered it then and now, as she walked down the aisle of the classroom, looking at the Slytherins and Gryffindors matched up at tables, name places on each one. And hers next to Blaise Zabini. Harry scowled at her from over by Pansy, and Ron looked miserable next to Daphne Greengrass. She slid gingerly into the seat and flushed slightly at Blaise's small smirk.
If I hadn't decided to tutor him, what would have happened?
Cetainly not her and him and Draco, she thought now, tracing the end of a quill over her lips with a small smile. She liked things the way they were. But the small matter of all the what ifs lingered in her mind.
She had always been known to do strange and crazy things, but this was one of them. Living with two men. Pursuing her dream instead of a job her parents wanted for her.
If they hadn't believed in me, in us, what would have happened?
She glancd over as the door opened and smiled as her two boys walked in, a cold burst of air following them. Draco has snow on his coat and Blaise's hair was coated with small, already melting snowflakes. Brushing each other off and laiughing, stomping their boots on the ground, neither one noticed her at first, but then Blaise did, and he smiled and nudged Draco, who glanced over and smirked, shot her a wink, and continued taunting BLaise about their shopping trip adventures.
When they finally walked over and sat down with her, Draco curling up next to her on the couch, Blaise perched on the edge with one arm lazily slung over both her and Draco, Hermione smiled to herself.
If they continued to believe, what else could happen?
