Maybe I'm overreacting...

Today is Thanksgiving!...or it was. It's already 2:05 AM, the day after here in London. I usually love Thanksgiving because my whole family comes over to my house and we just spend time together. It's packed (four families!), but it's fun. This year, however, I'm spending Thanksgiving in London, so I was kind of missing them. Simple solution ( Read more... )

November thru early January is THE most depressing time of year, because we get all this family bonding stuff thrust on us from all directions. I talked to my family today-on our first Thanksgiving since my mom died-and it was mostly about food. My sister doesn't even come to the phone because she'd have to come upstairs. I only called because that way, I don't get flak from them for not calling on a holiday. It's kind of the reverse situation-sometimes, I aggravate the heck out of them because I don't want to talk. Doesn't mean I don't love them, or want to see them.

It's easy to feel let down, because the reality didn't match up with the image you'd built up; but try not to let it bother you too much. Don't give it more signifigance than it should have-they did keep up with you, on Facebook and Twitter, right? So they know you're ok. I think a large part of what you're feeling is holiday blues, and homesickness.

Hope you feel better about things soon, hon.

PESTI!!!!

Sorry for the late reply, but you were right. I think a large part was definitely homesickness. It was my family, cousins, and family friends all gathered together, and I wasn't.

I got over it though, and I'm back to the "I don't want to leave London" stage again.

I hope you're doing well. It was such a treat seeing a comment from you!

I'm glad you're feeling better, then. :D

Feel free to pop by my journal any time, or let me know if you need to talk about something. I can't guarantee ~wisdom, mind you, but I've got a good listening ear. ~hugs
