MOD POST: Author Bios/Challenges
While not our 50th post (that will be when the masterlist goes up), we have decided to tell you guys a little more about ourselves and put out some challenges. Each author picked one specific challenge, and then five general prompts and two character or pairing centric prompts, plus we had two suggestions by community members.
The deadline to meet these challenges is April 15th, 2011 (to give us American something to look forward to on tax day). Feel free to answer as many as you want. A masterlist will be going up as the 50th post, but please leave your fics here as a comment. Give the pairing/character, the rating, and which challenge/prompt you answered. And most of all, have fun!
Author Bios & Author Challenges:
Hey! I'm Ragna (aka afteriwake, writer extraordinare (j/k)! I've been writing fanfic for going on 13 years this June (so long!), and started in the Buffyverse before moving to the CSIverse. Currently I write Bleach, Doctor Who and Hawaii Five-0, plus a CSI: NY-centric AU (nlb_fic and two Bleach AUs yokan_fic and yuumagure fic). I love writing crack pairings (one of my nicknames is Crack Pairings Dealer) and crossovers are much loved as well. My favorite thing about Bleach is actually one thing it's criticized for: I love it because there's so many characters. As a fic writer who loves odd and interesting pairings (be they romantic or not), the more characters in a fandom the more variety there is in what you can write. My favorite ships are probably Hitsugaya/Karin, Hitsugaya/Hinamori, Hisagi/Matsumoto, Grimmjow/Matsumoto, Grimmjow/Nelliel, Ichigo/Tatsuki, Ichigo/Orihime, Ishida/Orihime, Ishida/Rukia and my new crack pairing, Chad/Riruka (expect to see that one pop up around here as I get more comfortable writing Chad).
Challenge: Take the lyrics "and when you smile / the whole world stops and stares for a while" and write something romantic. Het or yuri/femmeslash only, please, and nothing above an R rating. If you write one of my preferred pairings I'll be even happier.
thiscanbegin: I'm Jade, I'm twenty-four (almost twenty-five) and I've been into Bleach (anime only) for almost a year now. Technically I started it years ago, the first time it aired on Adult Swim, but I lost interested when they waited to so long to finish the first arch. Then last summer, afteriwake kept going on and on about Bleach, so I decided to give it another shot. At some point, probably this summer, I'm going to start reading the manga from the very beginning, while the anime goes on filler.
Aside form Bleach, I write some Jossverse stuff, but mostly work on my original CSIverse series motion-fic (which I co-write with afteriwake).
Challenge: I've never been perfect, but neither have you
This is kanjo_girl, also Samothrace. A young adult, I love watching TV and reading comics. The thing about Bleach I love the most has to be the character development. I'm such a big fan of character-centric stories and I believe that this series acknowledges them so well. For other fandoms, I write for a variety of other manga series, comics (DC/Marvel), Star Wars, Criminal Minds, Gossip Girl, Avatar: the Last Airbender etc. There's so many. I no longer post my fics at my journal, instead it's either at this comm or samothrace_fics. I often adore crack pairings, it's scary. Really. My favorite pairing in Bleach happens to be Yoruichi/Renji and/or Rukia/Ishida. Sad, yes, I already know
