Today a new article based on the "angry-SGA-fans" one were given to public. It's only a short one but I think Luke Edwards, the writer, hits direct the head of ONE of the different nails about SGUs fault. So I think I should give the link to you too.
www.atvnewsnetwork.co.uk/today/index.php/atv-today/4575-brad-wright-claims-angry-atlantis-fans-are-punishing-stargate-universe By the way, anyone else tired about this blaming-campaign? WTF? SGU is dead, the ratings are telling the full story. So why all of this blaming and pointing with the finger in the direction of (oh, what a surprise!) SGA-fans? Because Atlantis still have a strong fanbase? Strong yes, and more in numbers then SGU, yes, but the most moved on to other shows and fandoms. Anyway, the ones are still around are good enough to point with one finger at them.
I mean ... please, guys, why you cannot accept that SGU was and is your fault? If you have only one good idea for this show, one well written character, one good storyline, there are much fans out there who would enjoy this.
But you decided to move on and count on another audience. You dissed the SGA-fans from the very beginning, just like you do with the SGA-actors. And then you guys are surprised because the SGA-fans go away and will not come back? You told them so, or what about this "if we do a good show, you will watch, if not, you'll not"? What about the "very small group" which does not count for you? What about the whole change of audience you wanted? Now you don't have the so hard wished younger and hipper audience and the old fans mostly are gone away, watching reruns on TV or enjoy their SG1/SGA-DVDs, moved on to other fandoms were they are wanted and needed. And now it is the fault of this very people your show is bleeding viewers? Please, can anybody explain this logic to me?
I am a fan of SG1 and SGA, mostly, of course, of SGA because to me it take its place right beside Babylon5 or Earth2, shows that were outstanding, one with a long (for much too long) but good ending, the other ended with one of the badiest cliffhanger I've ever seen because they didn't got enough money for a second season. Atlantis is for me such an outstanding show. It had its flaws, yes, but it also have something what only a few shows ever have. Besides the sometimes terrible writing the actors did the jobs the writer couldn't do, they developed their characters in a way that blows me away. When watching I always have the feeling there was another, an invisible storyline somewhere deep underneath all the fun and adventure. A storyline the writers did not aware of what was really a funny thing and maybe only my own imagination.
SGU got its chances and is still not working. To blame fans who are mostly tried to like this show, besides all the insults and kicks they got from the producers/writers, is the biggest fault TPTB could made. They have to accept that only one is to blame - theyself! Mh, by this way the mirror-thing in one of all the comments come to my mind. Yes, maybe we all should send mirrors to the Bridge-studios, Brad Wright, Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi and the other members of the gang. So they can finally recognize the truth: It's their own fault. No one else is to blame, as simple as this is.
