Right, there's loads of stuff I should write about as it has been months since I updated this, but, first things first:
It's my birthday on the 28th and I want to do something. It's a Friday so there's not a huge amount on, I was thinking going for food then drinks somewhere. Food is likely to be Buffet King again, unless anyone has any good suggestions. It would be especially nice to see anyone I haven't seen for a while, though I understand that some of you can't make it. If you are going to be there could you let me know, so I can get an idea of numbers?
My last entry appears to have been before our first gig, so first I would like to say thanks to everyone who was there and anyone who has been to the subsequent gigs. We were very nervous, especially Rebecca and myself, but the reception was very good, a lot better than we expected. The Opium one was particularly surprising, a crowd who mostly didn't know us and who generally like short metal songs, but they seemed to like us, which was nice. Next gig is Bannermans again on the 24th August with Maya29 headlining, it should be a good one.
I've been at a bit of a loose end in the day job as the (£200) bulb went in my scanner and it took a month to get it fixed. It was repaired just in time to do some stuff for an exhibition at the new Gretna office though, so I've been doing some interesting things this week, we got a load of books from one of the secure alcoves and I scanned (and did quite a bit of digital restoration on) the murder of Lord Darnley, husband of Mary Queen of Scots in 1566, the death of Sir Walter Scott (which came with a little anonymous poem) and the birth of Robert Burns. The Burns one looks so much better than it did, it's a real shame it's basically a footnote on a rather grubby page, at least it looks good on the computer now.
Other job is progressing slowly, but I still need to do more on it. I do like doing it, but I find myself avoiding it because it is still work, I work all day during the week and I don't really relish the thought of doing another few hours when I get home and then spend my weekends doing it too. It's like I never have time off and any time I do spend enjoying myself, or even just relaxing, is stolen from when I should be working on the FormFonts stuff and putting me further away from being able to do it full-time. Oh well, means to an end and all that.
I had a very nice weekend a few weeks ago, someone I had been talking to for a few months came up to visit and we had a great time. Her name is Anne and you might get to meet her if you come out for my birthday as she should be back up here for that. We have a nice time wandering round the city and we went to visit the pirates and get her a corset, which she loves and looks great in. It seems like a long time till my birthday.
Anyway, enough time wasting, I'm off to get a shower and then get on with some work, got to make some library bookshelves and 2d people, will probably do some other stuff too, not sure what though.
