Anyway. Still in pain. ALSO, thanatoast and I applied Hiruma Youichi and Elle Bishop, respectively, over at THIS PLACE, theunrealworld. IT LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE FUCKING AWESOME, AND REALLY FUN. You should join us. YES. I MEAN, LOOK AT THIS OKAY.

Hello, and welcome to Season One of the Unreal World, produced by your favorite all-fandom-all-the-time network, FTV! Combining our new technology with the ancient traditions of the reality television shows of the late 20th century, we hope to bring you a never-before-seen kind of program!

Here's how it works: using our state-of-the-art CSM (character summoning machine), we've called all of your favorite characters, the ones you nominated in last month's polls, to a mansion on a desert island specially prepared and rigged everywhere with mics and cameras. There, they will be left alone to do as they please -- drama! crack! epic battles! -- all in one show. Tune in, boys and girls, this is bound to be good!

To facilitate action and interaction, each week of the show will have a theme, taken from classic reality television shows such as "Survivor," "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?" and "America's Next Top Model." Participation in the competitions is not mandatory, but the winner of each competition will be granted vote immunity for the week. So you'll probably be seeing some exciting action very soon!

And last but not least, audience participation! Contests aside, it's you and viewers like you that will determine the outcome of The Unreal World. There will be a poll each week, and everyone will be able to call in and cast their vote for which of the characters they want to be voted off the island! The character with the most votes will be summoned back to our television headquarters to watch the rest of the game play out.

If you've got any questions about the show, please direct them to our Help Department.

Now, shall we get on with the show?

AND THE APPS ARE REALLY EASY, TOO. jgkalfjasdf APPS LIKE, CLOSE TODAY. SO. NNNGH! APPLY YES YES. UNF.

ANYWAY DRABBLE TIEM.

Author's Notes: This is for thanatoast ♥ and inspired by this song by Vienna Teng. You probably wouldn't understand. :> unless you are in rivelata OH YEAH these are the kids, because my darling thanatoast is freakishly amazing at drawing anything and everything I could possibly dream up. :'3

It seems faint and far away, but Claire can hear the baby stirring amidst the noises of thunderclaps and rain pattering harshly against the windows, following closely by soft padded footsteps on the ground.

Ever since she'd had the twins, her hearing had gotten practically supernatural, as if she could pick up on just about any noise, if only because it might mean one of her babies was in danger.

It's one of the boys-- opened the door and walked in-- and Claire can see, faintly, the dim, blurry outline of a lost little boy, shoulders slumped, blanket hanging loosely from his hand at his side.

She moves, ready to get up and do her job, but a hand stills her, and Youichi leans over to run a hand through her hair, moving it aside so he can kiss her on the temple.

"I've got this one," he whispers, and she feels him getting off the bed.

No matter how much he might have wanted her to go back to sleep-- or even stay-- she's awake now, no turning back, and she blinks faintly to see him crouching down in front of one of their boys.

"What's wrong, Ken? Did you have a nightmare?" He shakes his head. "Can't sleep?"

Shakes his head again.

"What, then?"

The small voice whispers up, "there's monsters outside my window and I'm scared." It's the way that he clutches the blanket a little closer to him, the way his fists ball up around it and hold on tightly--

Her eyes are better adjusted to the darkness now, and she can see the stripes on his tail, a pale, gray-blue.

Her husband sighs and stands, holding a hand out. "Come on, let's investigate the problem, okay?"

She waits until they're out of sight, Youichi walking hand-in-hand with Ken-- he's always been the (slightly) softer one when compared to Tai-- and shutting the door to the master bedroom after them.

It's then that she clambers up and out of bed to put on a bathrobe-- after all, what she wears to bed with her husband can hardly be considered decent, not that it matters much-- and steps outside into the hallway. The night is on, and she hears quiet whispering from inside the boy's room.

Samantha's stopped stirring, and Claire treads slowly and carefully-- so as not to be found out-- until she's just hovering in the doorway, watching.

"Now, listen to me, okay, because I'm only going to say this once," he starts, sounding somewhat stern as he picks up Ken to place him on his knee, sitting on his bed. "The only monster you have to worry about is your dad, okay? Che. And maybe grandpa, too. He's the only monster your dad is worried about, you know."

Claire snickers at that, smiling as she leans her head against the doorframe.

"I know you've had a long day, so it's important that you get a good night's sleep. otherwise we might not be able to convince mommy of going to the zoo more often, eh? So all that stuff out there, all that noise, it's just nature, doing it's thing. Branches and rain and other normal, natural, rational stuff. Besides, I was that age once, and I'm still around. It'll all be better again in the morning when you wake up."

"You promise?"

"I promise. And if there are monsters, dad will take care of them. Dad is much bigger and badder and scarier than any of them."

"Thanks daddy, you're the best."

It's moments like these that Claire wishes she could freezeframe and keep forever, Ken leaning forward to wrap his arms around his father, Youichi giving one of those beautiful, serene, content expressions, one arm around his son.

"Now back in bed with you. And if you have any horrible nightmares, or any more monster problems, you can climb into bed with us, okay?"

"Daddy, will you sing me a lullaby?"

The rain's picked up a bit-- Claire is certain by now that Tai goes deaf at night, sprawled out in bed, lying there diagonally, covers haphazardly pulled halfway over to keep him halfway warm, each limb facing in a different direction, mouth wide open, breathing loudly enough for it to be considered snoring.

Youichi sighs and smiles, pulling the covers up to Ken's chin-- who, on the other hand, spends his nights curled up in the most compact format possible-- and agrees. "Che, fine, but only a short one."

He can sing. He just doesn't want to, most of the time. So she stands and listens and enjoys, smiling to herself where he can't see, until he leans down to kiss Ken on the forehead and gets up off his bed, turning to head back outside.

"Che, you're a fucking voyeur, fucking wife," he mutters, stopping to stand right outside the door to the kids room, just ahead of her.

"You did that amazingly well," she whispers, closing the door to their room as quietly as possible, before starting the way back to their bed.

"If you say so." Grinning, he turns to face her. "You know I only did it so the little brat wouldn't take our space, right?"

The "just kidding!" follows too late, and Claire decides by then that he deserves the slap on his arm for it before they climb back into bed, and she decides that it's true--

She really does love him more and more every single day.
