W-Well, I didn't know him either, but I'm sure he was at least a little grateful to me.
If... he was capable of that. [He doesn't even know, really, if the large whale god thing WAS capable of something like gratitude, or just always wanted to eat fish, but who is he to make that kind of judgment, eh?]
[Sheik's quiet for a moment. He only knows that Jabu-Jabu wasn't there when he went to go rescue the princess of the Zoras. Books are useful, but perhaps seeing the god in person would have made a difference.]
That would imply that I was present in those older days. I can only speculate that in your dormant state, Ganondorf must have done something to him. I can't say I was present when he had placed his presence into their habitat.
Perhaps they believed the jewels to be a means of honoring their god. There were other races who believed gems to be significant of status and rank among their own kind, after all.
[Spiritual Stones. That hadn't been at the front of Sheik's mind at all. It's turned, however, with the thoughts of the Sheikah. Once again, he's rendered speechless for a few moments.]
It would seem the Sheikah really only used jewelry for rites of passage. If Impa was any indication, I'd say facial markings were not uncommon either. For the most part, it would appear that the Sheikah did not put faith into material objects, but rather symbolism in hieroglyphs of sorts.
[Sheik thinks. He knows a little about the place, has made his own theories, doesn't really know the truth, but wouldn't be surprised if his theories proved truthful.]
Certainly not the place to take someone for a gathering.

But - but you'd seen him?
[That makes Link pause.]
...before whatever happened to him?

[Link sighs. It's just another reminder of the terrible state Hyrule was in thanks to Ganondorf.]
Well, he was huge. And he looked a little bit like these squeak toys. Except the Zoras seemed to like to decorate him with jewelry, too.

[Link knows Sheik isn't a "true" Sheikah, but his natural curiosity pushes him to ask riskless questions.]
What about the Sheikah? Were they into jewelry and stuff? Aside from the earrings of adults.

Impa is the only Sheikah I've ever met, so I wonder how many things I can really assume about all Sheikah just from her.

It would appear Hyrule is home to very few. Whether they are simply in hiding, or on the brink of being wiped out is unknown to me.
[Of course, if they were at all less than righteous as they present themselves, perhaps being wiped out isn't the worst thing that could occur.]

[Yes. Sheik's stringing you along. He never likes giving out information without making someone work for it.]

...a lot was off about that place. And that's putting it nicely...

[He swallows.]
...I think I know what you mean by bringing that up, though.
I wouldn't count... the things in there... as Sheikah, like the Sheikah you and Impa are.
