[Squeak, squeak, squeak.]

What's a "whale"? It looks like Lord Jabu-Jabu, kinda.

But, well, Lord Jabu-Jabu was way, way bigger than this little thing.

They're large aquatic mammals. That one's just a toy.

Oh. So they're actually bigger than this? They aren't like fish?

Substantially, and no, they breathe air.

[Squeak. The Major has a whale, too.]

Wow. A lot like Lord Jabu-Jabu, then. I wonder if he's ever met any whales.

[He squeezes a squeak back.]

He... or, it, I guess... it's a patron god of a race of people in Hyrule, the Zora. I mean, that's what they say, at least. I think he pretty much just relaxed in this lake of theirs and let them feed him fish.

That's the usual arrangement in religion.

The priest caste is supported by society without providing anything in return.

[Her intense cynicism, let her show you it.]

[lol wat. Hylians would probably not understand skepticism of religion, espeically Link.]

O-Oh.

Um, well, I can't really say he didn't provide anything. I mean, I'm not a Zora, so I don't think I could know... You know?

Mm. Perhaps it's different in your world.

[She doubts it.]

Well, the Lord Jabu-Jabu is the god of the Zoras... and, the Hylians have the Golden Goddesses...

[Link seems to pause at his own thoughts.]

...even though the Golden Goddesses were supposed to have created everything... Hm, I guess they created the Zoras' god too, then...?

What do the Zoras have to say about that?

hylian_courage November 11 2009, 03:56:36 UTC
I'm... not sure. I mean, I'm pretty sure they believe in the Goddesses, too. [There's a hint of confusion in his voice still, though.]

Are the two beliefs mutually exclusive

[Polytheism does not confuse a woman from a society with an animistic religion.]

Um. No, I suppose not.
