Many of you know I dislike network marketing companies. Today I thought about about why I dislike them. But first, for the few of you who are in them, this isn't about you. My dad was in a couple as were some close friends from high school--the bitter taste has lingered a long time.
It's about friends. My friend A, who owned his own service company at the time, told me about his theory of handling business for friends. "There is no friends and family discount. It's either free or full price." The difference comes about depending on who the friend or relative is asking for. If it's for themselves, it's free. If it's for their job, it's full price.
I'm developing a product and I"m going to attempt to sell it. The fun part about the whole enterprise is I can give it away to my friends. Though I hope to make money off strangers and acquaintences, friends are still free.
Network marketing goes completely against that. Friends and family are your customers, not the beneficiaries of your good fortune.
