103009: Lime Crime's Possible Shadiness?

Oct 30, 2009 22:45

I wasn't sure if this was worth posting, but I think it's something a couple of people on my friend's list might like to know.

Fairly recently some news has come to light that Doe Deere's makeup line, Lime Crime, may in fact be a repackaged retailer. This wouldn't be a problem, except that 1.) she claims to make her product herself, and 2.) the product she sells has been insanely overpriced (you would pay $168 more an ounce buying her stuff. TKB's micas are $4 an ounce).

What does that mean?

It means that the eyeshadows are in fact TKB's micas with a unicorn sticker. It doesn't help Doe any when people have discovered that her shadows match a lot of TKB's micas. There is also speculation that the new lipstick line might be repackaged Stargazer lipsticks ("I’m wearing that EXACT shade of lilac lipstick RIGHT now. It’s #115 from Stargazer." This comment is about the D'Lilac shade). However, there is no complete comparison between Stargazer's lipsticks and Lime Crime's lipstick.

But couldn't this all be speculation?

Well, yes. However, this controversy has also dug up her previous history of scamming people, including this woman, which understandably casts a shadow over her Lime Crime line.

Other things that don't help include that she is incapable of being the professional she is supposed to be and commenting on the controversy without speaking down to anyone, including her own damn customers. But at least it's better than her (or her husband's, this time) incredibly vague responses. Also, don't forget to buy a lipstick.

And so what?

I was originally going to finish this post on a neutral note, saying that until the truth comes out, let's not grab the torches and pitchforks, blah blah blah, but then I read her response to those wanting an actual answers, and you know what? I think her response speaks levels, and it leads me to believe that this controversy isn't anywhere as vague as her previous answers have been.

So you know what, Doe? Go fuck yourself on a unicorn horn. I foolishly bought some of your makeup. I admit that I bought into your rainbow-colored scam. And now I'm going to learn from my mistakes and buy from the companies that you got your product from, TKB Trading and (possibly) Stargazer. Have fun flouncing.

And if you disagree with my post?

Whatever, it's your money. But I think you might want to invest it elsewhere, guys.
