jeffrey requested that i update my LJ, so here it goes...
school is going well... we're down to the home-stretch, and i have a whole lotta special ed stuff i need to be working on. theory is going well too, but just like last yr, i have no love for atonal 20th century music... so i dont really want to take the test we have on friday. i'm getting Bs in both my special ed classes tho, which is cool.
swim lessons are getting better at the Y... the little boy who had never had a swim lesson before was swimming on his own by the end of his 2nd lesson. what a cutie. 3 yr olds are fun, except when they dig their little nails into your skin, or scream in your ears, or try to kick you in the face- yea, i had a little girl kick me in the face, twice. not fun.
so, we had some bad storms come through here last nite... and it was pretty bad at home too. i was reading online about how a roof was torn-off a clothing store in Fairview Heights, which is where the mall is that i shop at when im home... well, i called mom tonight to see how she fared the storm, and omg, she is most def my hero, even more than she was before.
my mom left to go on a walk and the sun was shining & it was a pleasant day... when she was prob about 4 1/2-5 miles from home she turned around and started back... while she was walking, she heard the tornado sirens go off in Glen Carbon (she was down by I-270, and Glen Carbon is just over the highway), anyway, so she hears the sirens and thinks nothing of it, b/c the weather was still nice and sometimes their sirens will just go off for no apparent reason... well, they kept going off so finally she turned around and saw that the sky behind (which would be Pontoon Beach/Granite City/Mitchell) was GREEN. so at that point my mom, who has had a leg injury for the last year & a half (atleast) starts jogging for home. the wind starts picking up, and its raining by this point, and shes pretty much just trying to get home before this storm hits... well, needless to say, she ended up in the middle of it. mom heard the "freight train" sound that comes with the tornado, and she "felt like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz" (in her words) b/c the wind was blowing so hard & the rain was coming down in sheets... she didnt know whether to try & cling to a tree to wait it out, or to keep running, since the wind was pushing her uphill...
to be continued when i come back from my KKPsi meeting...
