Rules of Engagement
I have a rule, and it may potentially make me an asshole. My mother taught me a very twisted rule: you cannot make the first move in any occasion in terms of person-to-person interaction, you have to wait for it. By "you", she meant it for me, specifically. Now, everyone knows that this kind of rule would led to me becoming a hermit, so after a difficult process, I have bent it to my own bizarre version of the rule.
Now, I when there is a person that I want to make contact with, I try a maximum of three times. The attempts could be anything, actual conversations, text messages, IMs, facebook messages, etc. If the other party does not make an effort to interact with me in return, I cease all efforts and withdraw. And that's that.
