"The Milk's Gone Baaaaaad"

My roommate likes nice things. Not necessarily a bad thing!! We all like nice things but the means on which we obtain these nice things are usually decided on our own personal limits. That being said I'm concerned that he is going to drive me into bankruptcy (and perhaps a little insane). I hardly just sit and watch TV anymore, I don't have ( Read more... )

i say yes to the tivo and yes to the wireless. (with tivo you can record stuff that you would actually want to watch and then not spend time watching stuff you don't want to...it might not make sense now, but it's the best thing that ever happened to my tv watching (un)habit).

secondly, magazines...totally his thing. if he wants mags then he can get them. if you read them so what, but that's an expense he should do on his own.

That's true. I guess I was just reminded of The Joy Luck Club, a movie I can quote from (my tail tale sign of being a gay man), the part when Lela is talking to her mother about her husband always trying to be fair, cutting everything right down the middle. Yet they have a seperate list on things only each one uses "Magazines that I pay for yet he reads" are on her list and what an injustice this was. Maybe life doesn't have to mirror the movies =p

that's hilarious!
well, for one, you aren't in dating or married to this guy, right? so that makes you just roommates. i agree that the tv thing can be awkward, cuz you know at some point or another he will "catch" you watching the tv and it's not your fault (or maybe choice) that it has cable on it...as a roommate sharing common bills and things just ends up being how it goes, like just cuz he takes 2 hours showers and you take 10 minutes ones doesn't mean that you don't split the water bill...but with magazines...it's like feeling obligated to pay for and participate in his interests...i mean, would you pay half for books he wanted to buy and put on a common bookshelf?

That's so true I didn't think about it like that. They are like mini properties. IF something were to go wrong and he was to leave so would his magazines, if he collected them. Its not like we could half the magazines. I hate talking about "What's mine and what's yours" "You owe or I'll pay", I'm just free flowing with what I have and try to give as little thought to property and money but i've also been hurt this way too.

As a Taurus I'm sure you know all about being generous and taken advantage of because you want to do so much for everyone (especially your loved ones).
