Star Trek Keychain Kick and Model Kits

Mar 01, 2011 23:45

I've been getting back into Star Trek for a while now.  My little brother brought home a bunch of Furuta mini model kits from Japan.  I've come to realize I have a bit of a fondness for the refit Constitution class  starship, the most famous being the USS Enterprise and Enterprise-A from the first six movies.   I'd like my own Constitution refit.  I would call her the "USS Ironsides". (Bit of a joke reference to the old iron-clad warship.)
I also have been getting the starship keychains from Basic Fun Inc.  I've got every ship except for the original Enterprise from the old TV series.  I can't remember where I got the keychain of the NX class 01 Enterprise from the "Star Trek Enterpise" TV show.
I also have the 2011 Star Trek Ships of the Line calendar which includes images of a new Romulan ship and the NX class refit.
But it's not enough.  This morning before work I went to Japantown Collectibles and spent $35.02 on a pair of Round 2 snap-fit model kits from their AMT line.  One is of the Ambassador class USS Enterprise C.  The other is the Sovereign class USS Enterprise-E from the three more recent Star Trek movies before the J. J. Abrams new timeline version.  A couple weeks before, I spent $40 on the a bunch of Micro Machines Star Trek line at this year's Animation on Display.  I will get my own D'deridex class Romulan Warbird kit at some point.  I already have a custom(?) keychain Warbird made of brass from a dealer at a Star Trek con I went to last year.  I also have my sites on a Klingon Bird-of-Prey model kit.  Memory Beta's breakdown for the various classes has me looking for a B'rel class or it's larger counterpart, the K'vort class.
Soon I'm going to lurk at Spacebattles.com again.  I always get drawn in by their discussions such as the Abh from the anime/novels "Crest of the Stars" vs other space navies.  There's the Abh versus: The Galactic Empire, The UNSC, The Mass Effect Universe, the Wraith from "Stargate: Atlantis",get ideologically bankrupted by the Federation and get mauled by The Borg.

UPDATE:  This post about being a space pirate by science fiction writerjohncwright   reminded me of The Glory posted on Memory Beta.  It's a Constitution class refit with a Romulan cloaking device and used by a privateer.  Go post on Wright's LJ about what space pirate ship you'd have and what space princess you'd abduct.  If you must know what is a "space princess", he has a later post and a list of many princesses.  Bonus geek cred points to him for including Abriel Nei Debrusc Borl Paryun Lafiel or just "Princess Lafiel" from "Banner of the Stars".  She was a top choice princess for me to abduct, either with a refit version of The Glory, including cloaking device, a Romulan D'deridex class Warbird, or one of the bigger Klingon Bird-of-Prey ships like the K'vort class or the Chuq'Beh class.   I'd do it just to stick it to the Abh Empire.

PS: On my days off, ask me about my USS Enterprise bottle opener.

Lately, I've also been enjoying some conrcakes and oatcakes by Effies Home Made Tea Biscuits.  I have them with tea.
