Dayton Dragons vs Peora
ok.. so i hate baseball. except when the sox beat the yankees for the world series (W00t boston!)
Otherwise I could care less. I'm much more of a hockey fan. I think it's the testosterone that's in the air... You can always tell when a good fight is about to break out.
Now-- back to my original point: Dayton Dragons vs Peora. The Dragons are Dayton's minor-league players. I have never been to a Dragon's game before, but my family tells me that they "aren't bad". But of course, while I'm having a grand ol' time screaming my head off at Son of Beast, this happens:
(The way I heard it)
The Peora pitcher (during the 2nd half of the 1st inning) throws 2 bad throws. One lands on the guy's leg (makes the player leave on a stretcher) and the other hits another player in the face (again, he left via stretcher). Now, the Dragon's manager complains to the ump and a bunch of people get all riled up...
The Peora pitcher stomps over and starts screaming at the ump, then THROWS THE BALL AT THE DUGOUT! This wouldn't be terrible except the ball bounced out and hit a fan (a man by the name of Chris McCarthy) in the face and was rushed to the hospital.
Immediately after the ball was thrown, players from the Dragon's dugout tackle the Peora pitcher. A full-on brawl occurs!!! It took them close to an hour to clear the whole mess out. Something like 15 players were ejected from the game. Of course, this is a lot of players.... too many, actually. The ump had to reinstate the players so they could finish the game, then re-eject them after wards!
I also love the fact that stuff like this made headline news :)
