Six years after the project was confirmed, Knights of The Zodiac live-action official site finally released a trailer earlier today. It also serves as an announcement regarding its release date in Japan: April 28. Sony Pictures will also distribute the movie worldwide at yet unannounced date.

The official title of the project is Knights of the Zodiac Seitoushi Seiya: The Beginning (Knights of the Zodiac Saint Seiya: The Beginning). It's dubbed as "a big project that brings together Hollywood's highest production team".

Tomasz Baginski is directing the movie with the script written by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken. The action choreography is handled by Andy Cheng who's also responsible for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' stunt coordination.

Mackenyu Nitta (Rurouni Kenshin) plays the main character Seiya. As cited in the movie's official site, Mackenyu said that being involved in Saint Seiya which is loved all over the world, he was filled with surprise and excitement. "I felt the joy of starring in a Hollywood movie for the first time and played Seiya with all my heart during the filming," he said.

According to Mackenyu, Knights of the Zodiac is a masterpiece with wonderful cast and crew.
"I would be happy if people all over the world could enjoy it," he added.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the plot of the movie is about Seiya, a street orphan, who embarks on a journey to conquer the ancient Greek armor of Pegasus after Cosmo, a mystical energy, awakens in him. Seiya chose to side with Pegasus in a preternatural battle for the fate of Sienna (played by Madison Iseman), a young girl who struggles to control her godly powers. Alman Kiddo (Sean Bean) recruits Seiya into the Knights order which he founded when he discovered the reincarnated goddess.

Many people are pessimistic when it comes to Hollywood live-adaptation. We've seen many fail examples. But I decided to give this project benefit of the doubt. I'll save my comment for later, after I watch the movie.
