TPop fan feeling swept under by the halyuu wave looking for comrades?
it's been, um... almost 2 years since i posted on here, oops? not like anyone on my flist posts anymore either, really, since we're all on twitter or elsewhere now...
so um, hi, it's been a while, i'm still a major jani wota but over the past 2 years i've also become a huuuuuge fan of thai pop and thai actors and thai dramas (mostly bl lol) and i have a grand total of 2 friends who are into the same things which is great that i know anyone else, except 1 lives in jolly ol' england and the other just moved outside t.o. for school SO. this is a rant because i just want to have more friends who like my fandom in toronto T_____________T
...or at least like, canada. like there isn't even a discord, a fb group, an insta group, twitter fanpage, nothingggggg. zero. ศูนย์
(yes i like this fandom enough i've started learning thai even.)
but instead everywhere i go it's kpop this kpop that. which is great for fans of new gen kpop. i'm happy for them. really. but it also makes me sad i can't have the same local togetherness over my new fandom. i've already got an established circle of johnny's loving friends so that's fine (plus it's sooooo much easier to buy goods for j-artists than thai-artists here, so there's less barriers that way too)
and obviously i know i'm super lucky already that a lot of the thai stuff i'm into already gets (officially!) subtitled and there's a large following in places like singapore & malaysia & the philipines so stuff does get translated to english quite regularly already, but it's different being able to spazz in person w/ fellow fans!

SBFive are my ultimate Thai group bias.
I am absolutely in love with Kimmon. Like Kimmon is on the same level as hasshi & fumikyun to my heart. he is such a perfect level of handsome and cute and funny and serious and he makes me smile stupidly and squeal whenever he so much a blinks.
The group itself came out of the popularity they all had performing at fanmeets after they all acted as the leads in 2 Moons season 1, which i will admit after having watched it probably 6 times now, is overall not as well acted as 2 moons 2 ended up being, but it's the show that started me on this path of destruction, so it's still one of my faves.
plus i love even their management team because even though they're worked A LOT and are very busy, you can tell the boys are loved and treated well♡
I'm an absolute KimCop shipper, and I also love DetCop XD Tee is probably my 2nd fave in the group, but they're all wonderful amazing people that deserve to become huge♡♡
Next on the bias tree is probably TRINITY right now. I'm a bit sad i didn't pay attention enough and missed out on 9 by 9 (9x9th) but i'm happy i discovered them in time to learn enough about the members so i could get excited over Trinity's formation last month!
Found out about these guys from Great Men Academy, which i've seen people compare to hanakimi for the story, but actually i'd say it's a bit more like something twelfth night-ish? because there's also magic involved :D Basic plot is girl has a crush on a guy so sneaks into his (male only) school to get close to him, but that's where the similarity to hanakimi ends i'd say? Anyway it's an adorable sweet story and definitely worth a watch!
I have also, since getting into this fandom, rediscovered some amazing Thai bands i listened to before aaaages ago, plus have learned of a lot of amazing artists through all the drama insert songs and themes, or simply my fave actors singing covers at fanmeets!
Top of the list are Slot Machine (who i've actually seen live thanks to miyavi! and omg do i ever wanna see them again!), Boy Sompob who's like the bl drama theme king, Bodyslam, MEAN Band, Getsunova...and of course Pchy! (or should i put him in actors category...Love of Siam is classic for both his acting and his singing ^^)
also good are Ton Thanasit, Lipta, Knomjean, and not to mention all the actors who are also good singers so do a lot of the themes for the dramas they star in!
Favourite actors → well, Kimmon also falls under this list♡ fell for him from his role as Ming, but also loved him in Part Time the series, and can't wait to watch him in Hotel Stars & โซ่เวรี
Gun Atthaphan - he does a lot of dark roles but he's actually super cute and tiny so i'd love to see him playing more sweet/fluffy characters. My favourite things he's been in though are probably The Blue Hour and The Gifted which are both dark/psychological lol
Singto - best known for his role in Sotus (which is a standard must watch for anyone getting into thai bl), but i liked him more paired up with Ohm in He's Coming to Me
Sammy aka Samantha Coates - I am soooo excited to see her getting more than just a funny comic relief side character type role in Until We Meet Again, which starts in November~
Puimek Napasorn - her nickname of fluffy clouds is appropriate. If we were closer in age i'd be totally crushing on her, she's so cute ^^ I love her character in My Dear Loser: Edge of 17 most but she also did a good job in The Gifted, and I'm looking forward to, well, everyone pretty much, who's in A Gift To Those You Hate which will start airing soon
The entire cast of Love By Chance. Just. This is basically the best. It's SO GOOD. Everyone in it was wonderful. I love the story so much. Perth has the dreamiest smile. He's so cute. Him and Plann are basically a couple of small fluffy animals in human form. I also squeal over Gun Napat's dorky smile probably way too much. Also this drama has one of the best coming out scenes ever.
Captain and White - sticking these 2 together because they were my other impetus to become a thai bl fan, with Love Sick. White is forever adorable and I've loved getting to watch him play a few different roles now and I hope he keeps getting variation to expand his skills. Captain is just. so. pretty. SO PRETTY. I CAN'T WITH HIM. Like i liked him in Love Sick but he was just a kind of awkward but cute buzz cut kid there and then 2 years after I watch him in that he shows up in Great Men Academy as a member of 9x9 looking DAMN AMAZING and doing a good job as a totally different kind of character and bam, now i'm in love lol.
Jenny Panhan - i mostly know her as a tv host but she is doing a bang up job in 3 Will Be Free. Her char is probably my favourite in the show. I really wanna see what else she can do as an actress :)
I basically follow almost every actor signed to GMMTV (basically like BBC of Thailand) because i love the dramas they put out. most of the ones mentioned above are produced by them, but LBC and UWMA started as independant works directed by พี่New Siwaj who is just so good♡
...there's so many other things i wanna say but it's 3am and this is already very tl;dr lol but if anyone out there decides to check any of this out come and chat about it! ^^ especially if you live around toronto!
