so those will come forthwith, but first, let's try to remember all his random moments and chatting and all the other fun stuff external to the awesome that is that man's guitar playing!
-vip didn't get early entry, so it's a good thing me, erin and christina lined up at an ungodly hour. or rather...good thing erin lined up at an ungodly hour <3 (i only lined up at the crazy hour of 730am XD)
-line peeps were awesome! will have to add fb/lj's to share pics :D the front of the line has a permanent barricade, so no major line-butting or anything - only issue came when one of the venue staff kicked us off the stairs in a very obnoxious & impatient manner
-spent the day trying to finish my lx homework, only to realise around 4 i'd been making a realllllllly stupid mistake in my math, so gave up and sent sholem an email :S
-miyavi's bus came early afternoon/noon-ish, and at some point bobo managed to wander by the crowd without notice, and apparently myv did too? well, i know for sure he went inside sometime late afternoon-i think it was just after 5?
-found out about 630-ish (after i'd already changed & left all warm things at home) that doors actually open at 8, not seven like assumed (because the ticket just says the con was at 8), and managed to confirm from the super-duper-awesome security guard lady that we'd only get will call access when doors open
-most of the front 10 ppl or so were vip though, so was all good-we must've crowded the path a little ;) and erin was able to get in right first and planted herself centre-centre
and then at 9 once the venue had pretty much filled...
i just gotta say first off, this topped last year's hardcore! getting centrestage, no barriers, miyavi was having sooo much fun bantering with the crowd♥
basic setlist (read down for why it's basic):
(pic flipped so it's readable- 1st song cut off, but it was what's my name? so yeah...)
and now where do i even start? near the start we were all calling "miyavi" but i guess it sounded to him like "miyaGI", so of course he started joking about how 'nonono, my name's miyaVI, not miyaGI, get it right'
and then next mc i think, was after doing some 'hello toronto!'/etc, and his usual 'i'm here from tokyo, japan' and 'this is my second time in toronto' the montreal crew replied with "we're from montreal!" myvs didn't quite hear at first but asked them to repeat and was all 'oh, you're from montreal. who's from toronto?' *cheering* 'who's from montreal?' *pretty huge amount of cheering*
and so he starts mentioning how he wants to play vancouver, montreal, etc-more cities in canada, so we should all get his tour organisers to bring him over to the other cities! (somehow i won't be suprised to see montreal on the tour list next time ;) )
also at the start of the mc talked about how this is the 6th stop so far, and coming to the cold after the us XD 'it's cold, but we'll make it hot!'
also same mc or possibly later, mentions he went to niagara falls, and was wandering around freaking dundas square yesterday too!
something like 'ah we went to niagara falls. in the cold. and too many tourists!'*laughing* 'though of course we're tourists too' & 'i think the falls are prettier from the canadian side' *cheers*
and we bantered with him a bit saying he should just move here since he wants to see more of canada XD
so at another point he pauses and his roadie brings out a music stand with lyric sheets...
first he sings selfish love (after a moment of looking for the right lyrics - in which some guy near me called him badass, and he was all like 'of course')
and so then he's talking about how life's all about growing/changing/learning something new all the time...but then he says 'but i know you guys like to hear old songs too. what songs do you want to hear?'
so of course right away we start shouting - one girl says 'itoshii hito' so he responds 'oh that's a good one, i think i can do that' and after a bit more shouting ideas...he goes into it! the only moment i got a bit teary (not really, just a little), was when i realised he'd actually be playing old songs!
so of course he plays, and EVERYONE is singing along...and omg, it's SO GOOD LIVE!
another girl also shouted out one with a longer japanese title (forget which) so he was adorable in his reaction-turned around and says 'oh your japanese is good'
but then even better, after there's a quiet moment when he grabs some water and i shout 'jibun kakumei!' myv turns around and points right at me and smiles 'what did you say?'
'jibun kakumei' 'oh, that's a good one'
AND HE GOES AND FUCKING PLAYS IT OMG.
the whole show i was so smushed to the stage i couldn't actually move/jump when he'd call out to (also taking feet off floor=chance of someone edging in beside me), but i just jumped like crazy for that one♥
i got miyavi to play jibun kakumei! his very first solo song, first song i heard from him and the one that made me get into his music!
just like. the moment he strummed the first couple notes on his guitar i just DIED. and didn't stop until after the show ended ^_____________^
partly cause it seriously just got crazier from then on!
mc before/after the new song, strong - talking about the earthquake, and how he wanted to write something as a message and that's what came out of it
and then into be one (edit: and by which i mean futuristic love), of course a bit talking about the theme of that song & bringing everyone together ...and it was either w/ this one or strong also just talking about needing to protect the world and do your part to help and such and make it a better environment
of course mention of bobo's short shorts came up - someone had even doodled a sign XD ...myvs even was like 'who likes short shorts?' XD
started chatting in japanese or mix of both a couple times too, near the end
encore was CRAZY. i love how he does live loop mixing! he was having such crazy fun in the couple songs at the end that use it! like we just kept going, and getting crazier, and he keep pulling the silliest faces at us <3 i think that's where i spent the most energy the whole live XD
oh and of course, his publicist or whoever was taking a ton of vids/pics, and he brought out his camera for pix too, and bobo had his, and of course so many of us had ours. :D tons of pics all around!
and then finally it was done, and the super-duper-awesome security lady kicked everyone but vip out and so the piece-de-resistance:
HOMG I'VE MET MIYAVI!
and thanked him for jibun-mentioned it was one of his first songs i'd heard, and after christina took the initiative, got a hug from him XD ...and then said a quick 'arigatou gozaimasu' at the end with a handshake
edit: ah, didn't pay attention earlier, set list was also longer, because he came out for a real encore - sang subarashiki kana, kono sekai either last or second last? and durr can't remember which ones, but...one or two other encore songs too :D
