JAPAN!
currently sitting in our hotel getting some more rest before meeting up with atarashiiyoake in shibuya (had a bit of a headache & was still sleepy so decided not to go out right away)
i'll probably do shorter updates or just fangirling on here & might not post much in terms of photos, so if you want the updates that we're also sending to family, bookmark our travel blog: http://candjinjapan.info/
...had a pretty smooth flight (got lucky and had mild weather in t.o. in the a.m. & avoided the forcasted thunderstorm!) and got checked in last night, and then just had an early night - 12.5hrs is a long time to be sitting + 2hr busride, especially when it's never actually nighttime and it's hard to sleep on a plane anyway (at least we had a row of 3 seats to ourselves)
...also meant we ended up waking up around 430 this morning - so colin's currently napping & i'm just looking up where we want to go for the 2nd part of our train trip
things of note:
-the city is very tall! all the buildings are narrow and tall...also much more creative architecture than toronto
-so far i'm not having an issue w/ smoking (although we haven't been outside much yet), but colin's having a deal of trouble with the pollution/pollen so i went out and got him a mask right away (& one for myself just in case cause i'm coughing a little bit too)
-the multiple train choices to get places is confusing, but taking the bus from narita was a good choice, cause we got to go over the rainbow bridge and get the tokyo skyline and drive right past tokyo tower, so that was really fun ^^
-saw sakura! hopefully we'll get a chance to go some places with a lot-since i was worried we'd be too late in the season for them i'm glad there's still some :)
-holyshitwindbatman! and i thought toronto was bad! wrong choice in skirt to bring on my part...had to hold it the entire walk from the bus drop off to our hotel to avoid doing a marilyn :S ...wearing a tighter dress today :S
we're hoping to post once a day, so i'll either have just short notes on here, or a more eloquent post on the blog :)
-already feel comfortable walking around because some things are familiar (like conbini names, street names, how the sidewalks look even....i obviously watch too much japanese stuff XD) i think the metro will be a different matter though lol
