I was very happy today. The Day of Silence is really inconvenient. But that's exactly the point. We have to go through what others are forced to deal with every day. I couldn't imagine being silenced always.
I gave out over 400 stickers and speaking cards today. And I saw students who made their own. And I know some who participated and had no stickers. I'm going to estimate that at least 500 people in total did the Day of Silence in Stuy today. That is amazing.
Thank you to everyone who either stayed silent today or wore a sticker in support. Including the 30 or so teachers and staff members who did as well.
