Max Fanmix: Human Remains
Okay this took me friggin’ forever to do but I’ve wanted to make an honest Max POV fanmix for a longtime. I’m a HUGE supporter of him as character and hate when he gets bashed for things he did on the show. I’m making this canon ,as in following what happened on the show, not what people wanted to happen or wanted him to feel because I don’t like AU. If you don’t like it, we can take it outside. XD! Just kidding.
Max had many faults like every character on the show but he was the one who got crucified for making mistakes that humans make all the time. He was EMO, moody, and had a martyr complex just like his soulmate Liz (love her too) but he’s still my favorite character on the show. I didn’t make this into a shipper fanmix but I chose songs to represent how he was feeling with whomever he was with at the time because Liz and Tess shaped and changed him throughout the seasons good and bad.
No childish shipper wars or character bashing will be tolerated. I’m over that drama. I’ve been a fan of the show since the day it aired and was a witness to the insanity of early on and it make no sense that after it's been off the air for 6 years and it’s still going on. I made a point not to bash any characters in this.

The differences between Liz and Tess in Max’s POV. On one side is the destruction of everything he knows and loves and on the other side is Heaven to him, what he’s wanted since walking off the bus and seeing her.

Not that Max ever thought of himself as a hero but when he decided in Graduation that he was going to use what he was to help people in need instead of to save his own skin and when he step up on the stage as a clear target for the snipers so the others could escape, I think he became a hero IMO.

Something about this song screamed Max during the episodes after The End of the World. He just shut down.

My all time favorite Travis song. It makes me think of Max holding Liz up on a pedestal and not being able to believe she was capable of keeping secrets from him so much so that he asks her 3 times if she really slept with Kyle.

This is about Max never getting to address all the shit that went down during S2 and The White Room. It’s a shot at the writers really for wasting S3 on crap like him finding that stupid spaceship so he could get to his son and The Isabel Show and not getting to the heart of the show, the emotions of the characters. We never got to see scenes where they dealt with The End of the World and how it affected everyone. All of it was swept under the rug as if it never happened.

This song reminds me all the pressure he felt from everyone to be a leader and their king when he was just a 17 year old sheltered half-human boy who pretty much was thrown into the role and responsibility before he was ready for what was expected of him. Like Ask Not.

Okay this is pretty self explanatory. Max’s POV after the night he spent with Tess. He clearly has an “oh shit, what have I done" look on his face the next morning and he honestly never felt right about what they did (canon) but he was stuck with the consequences (because he was honorable man) and was still hurting over Liz supposedly moving on, so why shouldn’t he try. But it didn’t work because he never got over Liz even to the point of thinking about her when he was with Tess.

Max’s POV on the park bench after seeing Liz in bed with Kyle in The End of the World. The Max we loved from S1 was gone for good. After that he changed. It broke him and tainted him, changing his personality for the duration of the show. He disappeared with Future Max. That damn episode!!!

His struggle with holding on to his humanity and how being around Tess reminds him of the fact that he isn’t completely human and being with her only pushes his alien side past his comfort zone, to where his doesn’t want to go.

This is about Max trying to win Liz back after she came back from Florida and not understanding why she didn’t want to be with him. And his regret about letting her run down the mountain. He could’ve pushed Michael away and ran after her but he let her go.

This is about all the people reminding Max of the fact that he was a king, good or bad, in his past life.

Classic Max. He always put everything on his shoulders and never asking for help. Taking the brunt of every mistake made by the others. Liz was the same way.

Max after Departure. He was a very changed man. Innocence completely gone, like Jason said “He was alittle world worn.” The Max Liz knew is never coming back and the one that is there had an obsession to finding his son at any cost.

Max after he died and came back. He was a different person. Lighter and freer than he had been before. He gave up being leader before announcing it to everyone in Graduation. He was going to live the way he always wanted to, go anywhere, and with Liz.

Max did care about Tess but he didn’t love her. He felt responsible for her and her safety along with their child that she was carrying and he remember her as Ava but that’s as far as it went. (canon) That’s what this song represents to me.

This song is about Max’s resentment and ultimate hatred towards Nasedo and Tess for coming into his idyllic life and tearing it completely apart. They represented everything he didn’t want to be and they tried to take away what he held dear. It’s has a cool alien sound to it.
