Buying from Japan and the fricking pain named "customs"

Jul 05, 2014 15:44

Okay I wrote this for my 2 dear friends who're puzzled by the way customs work. Once you get used to customs and their bitching habit, buying from oversea will be less a pain (but still pain orz!).

Things below are only applied in Vietnam.

But your country may have some similarities so just check it out >.< )

I use SAL for shipping when using CDjapan. It does take two weeks but I've even had some arrive within 6 or even 9 days. CDJapan is much better than YesAsia when shipping as YesAsia takes longer and the way they package their stuff which is in Jiffy envelopes isn't that great. I prefer items being in boxes (CDJapan ( ... )

Yup using method like SAL or air mail will take longer than EMS. The best scenario is 6 days, but some of my friends had the worst scenario that took even more than 2 weeks and those 2 weeks are like hell for them. You know, spending money on something but then it gets lost (´°̥̥̥﹏°̥̥̥ ( ... )

"The Post office, UPS or whatever carrier has brought the item in has to present it to UK customs and pay whatever the VAT is on it.

The extra fee is for the carrier doing the customs clearance & all the related paperwork for you."

I can't with their reasoning lmao. That fee is stupid. I guess the UK just loves to invent more fees to protect the Union's economy from outside markets.

Thanks God there's no such fee in my country or I will love to burn something (ʘ‿ʘ✿)!

Thank you for posted this TAT It's a great help, Hy.... Really TTATT

Well, from now on, I wouldn't use any proxy anymore since it's really pain in ass.. OTL Maybe I'll take my friend offer to use her credit card for next buying. I've heard a bad reputation for FedEx service, so I kinda worried if Amazon really use them for shipment. Any ideas? T_T

And may I know.. For Amazon, how many days usually it takes for package to arrive?

Amazon don't use FedEx, they use DHL, which is no less a pain in the ass T________T... But I don't know how the customs duty is applied in Indonesia so I'm not sure about this. Maybe it's just my country that has problem with DHL... Maybe your country will not? (who knows)

For Amazon, the package will arrive at max 5 days after placing order (for old releases), or 1-2 days after release (for new releases aka. pre-order). It's pretty quick if everything goes smoothly~
