The world feels different, this morning

Lion and I have now lived in Washington for over 1 year. The day we officially crossed the border was August 5, 2010, but the day we consider our "moved-in" date was August 6, 2010. Because we didn't have Saturday off, this year, we celebrated our 1 year adventure anniversary yesterday.

The original plans were to go to Mount Rainier. We've never been to the mountain, and that is still the truth. Turns out, none of the places we were wanting to hike were free to the public. This is our first experience with a national park charging admission, and we were both heartbroken that we couldn't get there.

So, instead, we went and spent the day in Seattle. We went on a walking tour of the Seattle Underground and learned all about the city's history. Then we played around in Pike's Place and ate at a Dave and Buster's type-restaurant called Gameworks. We spent almost six hours just walking around Seattle, and we learned a lot of history and played a lot of games. It was exactly the kind of day we wanted to have. (There will be pictures, if Lion gets off his butt and posts them.) We also got to read more of Dance. It's such a delightful book!

We then came home and worked on cleaning up my car's oil spill. It's gotten bad, but there's nothing we can do about it. $400 is just out of our budget, for cars, for the wedding, for new glasses, for anything. And it's making our lives incredibly difficult.

But then we curled up and watched some of Nuremberg. Lion put this movie on Netflix without any kind of prompting, and it's causing all the sensation here. It's allowing us to have the intellectual conversations that made us first fall in love with each other, and it's giving us an outlet for passion that we've squashed while simply trying to survive.

We woke up this morning feeling as if the world had changed. Other than the weather (it was a gorgeous 78 and sunny yesterday, today it's in the 60s and rainy) and the DOW dropping, the world is the same, however. So I don't know what it is, but this change is causing a flaw in the peace in my heart(caused by the amazingly perfection of yesterday) and I'm not liking it.

Yesterday was also Dimi's birthday. He was actually born in early December/late November of 2002, but I celebrate his birthday on August 7, because that was my Grandpa's birthday, and it's my way of honoring the man who always brought such joy into my life.

So, Dimi has been with me 8 years and is almost 9 years old. I can't believe it's been so long. I love him so very, very much.

So, that's the update. I'll try to post again after Lion's birthday. Much love!
