My best friend, huh? How to explain Mike in things as pathetic as words? Mike, 5' 8" (like me), shoulder-length, curly, golden-brown hair (like me), dark blue eyes with golden sparkles (like me) and a smile that brings uncontrollable joy to my life. He's the youngest of three (like me) with two older sisters. His parents are divorced (like mine) and his mother has remarried (I was there--it was a beautiful wedding). He works as a waiter, currently, at two different restaurants in KC and is trying his hardest to become a famous movie star.
Mike and I grew up together. Not in the traditional sense of "growing up". We became grown-ups together. I met him when I was 18 (him just past 19) through a mutual friend (DM's wife) and then we promptly forgot about each other. A year and a half later, we met again, through Angel. And, after a week-end of sharing a sleeping bag and a good-bye peck on the lips, we've been inseparable.
There was a time where I thought I was deeply in love with Mike. And I still believe that I was. And that love hasn't changed much, it's just become platonic. What my love for Mike and his love for me, has taught me is how to properly love someone like Lion.
Mike has never left my side. He has always been there when I needed him, and I hope he says the same about me in return. When I had to get a home for Hermione (when I moved in with Lion) he promptly took her, and, thereby, kept her in the family. He's an amazing person: handsome, talented, smart, funny.
He's Laurie to my Jo. Peter Pan to my Tinkerbell. Hyacinthe to my Phedre. And Apollo to my Artemis. He's my brother, my best friend, and this piece of my soul I never knew I was missing.
In short: he's my Mike. And I'm so blessed to have him in my life.
