taking it back to '90s boy band wars.

~taking a break from my paper (read: procrastinating)

what is sleep anyway?

um i found the greatest thing to happen to my life since ever?

IS THIS NOT THE BEST THING EVER? okay you have to watch the whole way through because sometimes the music gets weirdly mixed/arranged but. GUYS IT TOTALLY COMES TOGETHER BY THE END AND I AM JUST LIKE. ABUZZ WITH HAPPY. IF THEY DID THIS WITH BRITNEY, IT WOULD BE LIKE '90S NOSTALGIA TOUR ALL OVER THE PLACE. THEY WOULD MAKE SO MUCH MONEY. SO MUCH.

oh my god, these kids fucking know how to market. and okay, feel free to defriend, whatever, i love the backstreet boys. in the 2000s, when the world was going through the giant anti-pop phase, THEY STILL TOURED. i was lukewarm about them but then THEY KEPT GOING even through the 2000s, even when they were playing smaller places and dropped a member and i was like. all right, part of it is that you love performing. you weren't just in it for the money (although do they really need any more money?)

i mean, i even loved brian's little bit of weird not-quite-hitting-the-note-ness in the beginning of i want it that way? for full disclosure purposes, he was always my favourite. second, it's nice to hear a live performance that isn't being live-autotuned? idk, maybe that's just me.

did you hear the single burst of cheers when the opening notes of 'i want it that way' started up? and people were singing along. oh my god, joyous. joyousness. things we need in our lives: more boy bands, really. they were just packages of happy. i love excited people. excited people make me excited and they make me happy. i just love sharing in collective joy, okay.

i mean, they cut to random audience people, some of whom were famous, dancing and singing along and. let's heal our collectively wounded unconscious with these kids. they're great.

and nkotb was before my time (the only song i know is two lines of 'hanging tough'?), these two groups know what they're doing. totally capitalizing on the nostalgia thing. they've got, what, 2 decades covered riding on the fact that everyone grew up on them and thus has love for them? (myself included?)

i read about this at work because i have so much time at work sometimes so i just read the news and this was all aflail on google news and i was like oh god but I TOTALLY REVISE MY STATEMENT.

the thing i love about the backstreet boys is that they never try to be anything they're not. they're totally aware that they're cheesy and products of the 90s but they can harmonize and they're just like in it to win it. idek. i feel sentimental towards them, okay? owned millennium on cassette tape. that's right, people.

lol it is near 5 am so of course the best thing in my life is the backstreet boys singing live. it's 2010. i love these boys. idk when these life realizations keep coming but there we go. they're going on a joint tour. it will make them or break them -- but let's be real, can they be broken? they're not trying to break new ground here -- and they will make a ton of money.

other realizations: i type like i talk to my friends in these posts, things go direct from head to paper, so i use the word "like" a fair amount. i apologize? idk, i edited a lot of them out of this post and i think it makes some of you think me unintelligent. idgaf, it's a great filler word.

anyway, they make me happy. which is useful when you're avoiding a 12 pg. paper.

GUESS WHO'S GOT TWO THUMBS AND IS GOING TO LISTEN TO THIS ON REPEAT UNTIL SHE GETS SICK OF IT.
