So I have school tomorrow, and instead of going to bed, I decided to rewatch the Robin Hood S2 Finale. What a mistake.
Ah, what to say that hasn't already been said.
First off, I cried like a baby. Even though I knew what was going to happen. Second, I hate what Marian did even though I know/understand why she did it.
PS: RH writers, all the death remarks and the happiness--you suck. You suck because they thought they were going to be happy and it's 10x worse.
I'm still crying. This is worse than me after Doomsday!
So a thought struck me. Clearly, the BBC has to be aware that since fans have, ahem, flooded their inbox with complaints, mailed them letters, etc. etc. (I'm sure they have to have a tally on how many standardized responses they send out), the S2 finale did not go as well as planned/expected. No, it pretty much backfired in their faces. Knowing this, there has to be some kind of damage control committee trying to figure out how to salvage what's left of their ratings.
Maybe, as cheap as it is, S3 will open with like a tag that reads "one/two months later..." and Djaq and Will have decided to reunite with RH. (Or Will, at least.) Then, we'll find out that right before they were going to bury her, they discovered that Marian was only unconscious and deep in the pits of death without actually being dead. Since Djaq's uncle/friend Bassam has money, clearly he sent for a doctor. She's made a little progress, though still unconscious, and needs to remain at Bassam's place to heal.
There. Will and Djaq are back, Marian's alive without actually being on-screen, and it opens the way up for Lucy Griffiths to do 4 appearances or so at the end of the season (which'll be Jonas's last season as well). And in the end, we still get our happy ending and the fans don't run to the BBC offices with pitchforks and torches.
And because of the required "healing time," we have just enough angst in the beginning of the season to kill off Gisbourne (which should take us to mid-), wrap up the whole Sheriff/King business (which takes us to the final stretch), and give RH and the gang their happy endings (end S3).
God, I think I should be hired by the BBC for situations such as this. :D
Also, the "We Are Robin Hood!" rallying cry at the end? Yeah, didn't catch it because I was too busy bawling my eyes out. Nice try, though, BBC.
