More than the slash-aspect, I love the friendship. I want that friendship back! Re-watched.... God. 7.02? The one with the SEAL who had the head-trauma that made him unable to recognize his family? a few days ago, and it was a pleassure to see Hotch and Reid go out together, leaning on each-other's strong sides comfortably, and getting the job done. I mean, I love the rest of the cast, but there's a reason I ship these two. :-)
Also, I'm kind of fond of thinking of Hotch as an emotionally abused spouse. It's not that I dislike Haley, but I find it interesting to play around with.
Their friendship is the best thing about them to be honest, because despite them being opposites in almost every aspect, they find that balance to be completely comfortable with each other without much explanation. I think it's one of those relationships the writers didn't intend to build but their characterizations (childhoods, upbringings, personalities, hangups, etc.) just click and people aren't questioning their bonding back in S1 when Hotch practically took Reid with him everywhere on cases, or in "L.D.S.K." when Reid asked Hotch to teach him how to shoot straight, and of course in S2 when Reid chose Hotch in "Revelations." They always work well together. I love them as working partners in "The Last Word" and "Tabula Rasa." I feel that they're on equal ground when they work side by side, and I love that about them. I'm not keeping my hopes up for the rest of S7 or even in S8 that the writers will revisit their friendship. In fact I'm kind of glad that they haven't touched on that, so their relationship in S1-S4 is still somewhat
( ... )
The second she made him choose, their marriage was over for me. I mean I get why she did it, I don't blame her for wanting Hotch at home more, but at that point, it was like everything was finally going her way, him being suspended, and she just needed to know once and for all, and I think Hotch needed that reality check too. I agree that things would end up badly either way. Even if Hotch had gone through with the transfer, he would eventually resent Haley and they would end up in a divorce anyway.
That AU sounds so good. I'd love to read it one day. I'd like to see how Reid deals with Neal too, lol. But damn, way too many gorgeous people in one room, how would you ever finish a scene? XD
Darn, this went in the wrong spot, I'm so bad putting comments where I want! Anyway - is this the "unattractive" Peter you're referring to? Sorry to attach it to the rant link, but I couldn't figure out how to just put in the pic!
Yep, that's the one. The wardrobe-department deserves a freaking *medal* for continuously stuffing him in suits that make him look perfectly ordinary. Once he started appearing in casual wear it was a total eye-opener for me. Then I watched Carnivale and *seriously* started drooling... ;-)
