Re: Help Request

Going to bump this so anyone new here can still see it. Like Willeke said, we have enough editors now (thank you VERY much by the way!), but what we're looking for now are additional translators. Willeke is our sole translator right now, so she has a very heavy workload. If anyone here is able and willing to lend her a hand, it would be greatly ( Read more... )

Hi Nina! You could absolutely be of some help providing scans for translation. Willeke and I are pretty much the source of the raws that we've been translating all this time, so someone with some new stuff would be excellent!

There's a couple of ways to go about doing these scans. The first option is to just scan the page still in binding, including the page being scanned and maybe a little of bleed over past the seam to the next page. I typically do it this way because I try to make sure there's as much opportunity for light to hit the binding area as possible because that's where scans typically darken up and become difficult to work with.

The other option, which I DO NOT expect or would even ask you to do, is to debind the book. These are "flat scans" and they typically provide the best quality. Again, I am not asking you to do that at all, I'm just telling you the two main methods used by scanners. I don't debind my books for this after I've paid for them, so I wouldn't ask anyone else to do it.

When scanning, just make sure your scanner is scanning on the highest quality setting it can do, it provides more detail in the images. After that, you're free to send them to us by whatever means you prefer. We'll take care of the cropping/rotating/leveling. Of course if you'd ever like to help us with any of that we'd love to have you!

Here's what I would request before I ask you to scan your entire books though, scan the front covers and send those to us first. We have a bunch of books scanned sitting in our backlog, so I just want to make sure you're not scanning something we already have.

Look forward to hearing from you! Thanks again!

; o ; !

It's nice to meet you! <3

Ah, I see. I figured it was either of those two methods but I wanted to be extra sure before I invested time into scanning anything. Wasn't sure if there was a newer/easier method than what I had already had in mind, ya know?

I'm currently in the process of buying a printer so I can't exactly scan the covers of these doujins for you all to see but my phone has a great camera and it's new so would a picture of them suffice for now?

I look forward to your response as well ! Thank you so much !

Is there a special way I can send it to you ? I'm sorry I'm just still getting used to the features and buttons on this site so you'll have to bare with me as I learn.

You can just upload it to mediafire and send me a link. Or you can email it to me, whichever you prefer.

So... is everything going ok? Was just wondering what happened since I haven't heard from you in about a week. We're you still planning to send me something?
