I've had a much needed relaxing day today. I woke up leisurely with Noah and we hung out and ate breakfast until he had to go in to the pharmacy. I sipped my coffee a while longer then headed out to the barn. Ringo was laying down in his stall when I got there, so I tried to be nice and dilly dallyed around for a bit. I still ended up having to get him up. Sorry, Ringo, sometimes I hate it when my alarm goes off for work, too.

When I started grooming him I noticed the inside of his left front fetlock was a little swollen. This is the same place he had some swelling when he went through the bent shoe issue two weeks ago. I figured it was just stocked up since he had been in all night, but lunged him before I got too far along in the tacking-up process. He was perfectly sound. Still, I gave him an extra long walk warm-up, and kept the ride pretty short. He was being really willing today, anyway. We had a dressage day, and we're working really hard on getting decent contact in the outside rein, especially when tracking right. He has a tendency to pop his outside shoulder out and blow through it. He was much more obedient about it than he has been in our past few rides, a byproduct, I think, of it being nap time, and I got some really nice, lifted canter out of him.

We hacked out for our cool down walk, and I put him through every puddle I could find (just one small one, unfortunately), which he was less than thrilled about, even though we did the exact same thing two days ago. Thoroughbred moment. By the time we finished our ride the swelling was gone from his left front, and Amber had turned out his usual turn out group since it was so nice out (and dry!) and they weren't due to go out tonight anyway. I put him out with them and left him happily grazing with his buds. Hopefully at least one of the three pastures they've had re-seeded will be able to put back into use soon so that all the horses can get out more consistently. Right now we're having to rotate them all around, so the max they can go out is 4 times a week. No one is too happy about this, but it's the most fair way to work with the pasture's we've got until more are ready to go back to work. It really didn't help that we lost two of the re-seeded pastures during last year's drought and they had to be seeded again this spring.

Ian and Lizzy are in town right now (Ian from NYC, Lizzy from LA), and Ian and I got dinner at Arthur's, our usual spot, last night. It was really nice to get to hang out with just him and we could catch up on our lives. We vented, discussed future goals, laughed at old inside jokes, and reminisced. Haven't gotten to see Lizzy yet, but hopefully we can all get together again this week. There's just no beating getting to hang out with old friends, that know you almost better than you know yourself. There's something so calming to me about it, like I just had a satisfying home cooked meal.

Otherwise this weekend has been spent with barn chores and naps. Now I'm trying to catch up on laundry and start to get organized for the event that's in two weeks. I really need to try and remember how to braid a mane! Is it sad that I really can not remember the last time I've had to do that? Yikes.
