i just have to COMPLAIN

Today i went to the bank again. AGAIN! because 1 month has come and gone and my account application is still being "processed"

Here is a brief timeline

4 weeks ago - I went to the bank with the necessary school letter and identification document to apply for a student account. Filled in the application form, and the bank people say they will send me a letter after the form is processed and only after that i will need to bring my necessary documents back for proper application.

3 weeks ago - I waited for slightly more than a week before i got the letter from HSBC asking me to go down with all the documents. Which i did so. IMMEDIATELY after i got the letter. It was a saturday and there weren't many bankers around, a guy with shirt hastily tucked in attended to me and photocopied all my documents and told me that they would process all the forms on monday. And it will probably be 4 working days before i would receieve my bank book and atm card. So i went home.

2 weeks ago - Since it has been more than 4 days already, i made another trip to the bank again to enquire about the status of the account. I was told there was an influx of applications and it might take longer than usual and i should be more "patient" and would receive my stuffs in no time. The customer service officer ask me to wait for another week and if i did not get anything still, I should go down to the bank again.

1 week ago - Yes i still did not receive anything from the bank. So i went down AGAIN - There was this nice receiptionist say she will help me check, so she went to the personal banker who is stationed on the ground floor and came back to tell me that there seems to be some missing blanks in the application form that i would need to fill in before the application can be properly processed.
She told me i would have to go upstairs to the customer service officer to do this. She gave me a queue number. ( at this point in time i was thinking like HUH? so if i hadn't made a trip down to enquire about the account then i would never find out about these " missing blanks" and maybe my application would never be processed even after i finish the course and had gone back to sg, the application would still be stuck at the "missing blanks" stage until forever?!)
Anyway so i went upstairs, talked to the customer officer (who has attitude problem btw) she insist that there was nothing wrong with the application and that all SEEMS FINE on her computer and that i would just have to wait for a few more days for the mail and she just sat there with her arms folded and stared at me as though that wasn't a clear enough signal for me to leave. So I evacuated, went back downstairs to find the nice receptionist again but she's gone. And in her place was this another lady (really UNfriendly). When i explained to her the situation again, she said "well if the customer service officer say there is nothing wrong with it then there is nothing wrong!" So i told her what the receptionist said earlier and she responded " then u have to go back upstairs to tell them what happened." I didn't want to go through the whole crap again so I left and thought that i should wait for a few more days and see whether by any stroke of luck i would actually receive the card and book.

TODAY - And so obviously, I did not receive anything so i went to the bank. This time quite determined to get everything settled. The lady who attended to me this time was much more patient and friendly. She told me on her computer system it said that the processing centre had not received anything from me (HUHHUH HUHHH? WTH LAH!!!) I did repeat my whole long winded story to her again and she just kept saying "well this is strange, there is nothing up here" (I also think is strange la , what is wrong with all of you lor. Its not like i sent my documents to you in mail and it got lost or something - i delivered it PERSONALLY to the bank and sat there and saw with my own eyes that you photocopied all of them.)
But what to do? NO choice lor. start application all over again lor. Best part - i don't have my passport because its at the Polish Embassy which means i have to wait for another week yet again. But this time i had ask the lady whether i can go back to her next week when i get my passport back. She said ok and gave me her card. Hope for the best then.

I really don't know what to say - How long do you need to open a bank account? It probably wont even take a day in sg and cant be more than an hour in tw. And how long does it take @ the financial HUB of the world? 1 month? 1 year? And its HSBC la. Not like some rural bank or whatever. This is just sad. What is happening to this industry where speed matters?
