You can call me anytime. The evening hours (my time) will be better as I'm currently getting in my internet time before grocery shopping and cleaning. :) I read the piece and it was wonderful. I left you a comment. :)
So happy and so sorry...grandma_kateOctober 4 2007, 23:41:45 UTC
Your story was amazing and a delight to read. My childhood was a lot longer ago than yours but it brought me back to that confusing time when at least one of the opposite gender was starting to become interesting. We've all been there and we've all been so full of feelings that we had to confide in a friend. Mine wasn't quite as blabby as Elise. Scars and experience both.
I've never had a root canal so have an almost Weasley attitude about Muggle dental practices. I'm so sorry that you had to have one. Poor dear.

Hi GK!
Root canals are more disconcerting from the smoke and long needle perspective. With enough drugs, anything is possible.... Thanks so much for the feedback. I've been so out of touch since the summer -- I've got to get back in the grove with your writing -- you've been so prolific -- you put us all to shame. I'm so proud of your writing -- all those hidden moments you unearth and flesh out. It's wonderful. Hugs, S.
The story was wonderful! I left a comment there, but wanted to leave one here, too and point out two tiny typos (if you're interested - since the site says something about putting the stories in a book) -
should it be "led to his shoulders" instead of "lead to his shoulders"?
"world to see" instead of "world see"
My sympathies on the toothache and root canal - ouch. I don't have to have a root canal, but a trip to the dentist last week revealed that I need no fewer than four crowns - Bleh.
Very efective piece about living the joy and pain of childhood. We all hurt sometimes being so young. What I liked so much was Mrs Cotota herself. The way you described her in the beginning, I kind of thought of her as one of those crusader's blithfully not being able to see in front of her. But she did. She gently showed you the hurt people often get, looking for something else.
Thanks sweetheart. I've just taken a Vicoden and am waiting to pass out. The pain is right behind the veil, as it were. I'm just being proactive. I save the good drugs for the serious dental procedures -- storing them up like Halloween candy... Thanks so much for the feedback. Hugs, S.
It was wonderful to be able to read another one of your works. I've missed being able to do that. Congratulations! It was pure hwimsey!
*cringes* Sorry to hear about the root canal. Hope you aren't in too much pain.
How have you been? Sorry I haven't kept up with things. I haven't been on-line much lately. I now go to school an hour earlier, which was my serious computer time in the past. Chiropractic treatments and some really good books have reduced my computer time significantly. Hope things are well.
Well, I'd better move my sorry tired back to bed now. 5:30 am comes way too fast. That and premenopausal sleep disturbances makes for a very tired fritz42 most of the time. A bunch of us sit around the table in the lounge comparing premenopausal symptoms. We can usually clear the men out of the room pretty fast. *g*
Lordy woman -- HOW I MISS YOU. Let me count the ways.
I think about you so often and wonder how you and yours are doing. Please forgive my horrible sloth with our friendship. You know I love ya.
How is college working out for the boy? How is the empty nest. You know, I feel your pain -- I swear I'm going through the same thing. Sleep disturbances, hot flashes, temper like a terrier. Yikes.
We have to plan to have an IM session and just get it on the calendar.
