Just finished Transformers. Fucking excellent movie.
Check this out. Here is a brief recount of the story my uncle told me regarding a Christmas party he attended:
So there is this Christmas party, being hosted by this lady who views herself as the Queen Bee of sorts. So the party is at Queen Bee's, where she also lives with her third husband. The guest list for this party is very interesting. Queen Bee's first husband is there, and so is the second husband. The second husband's new wife is the best friend of the Queen Bee. And the Best Friend's first husband is also there, as are his kids from his first marriage (which was not to the Best Friend), and their mother. All in all, there are about forty people at the party, and only two people there are first marriages. Everyone else is there with their new and old spouses, with kids in tow. Oh, and a majority of the guests are buddhist. As a result, the food is entirely vegetarian. Now, there is dinner and dessert. But after eating the "rabbit food" served for dinner, there is a break before dessert. During this break, it is customary for the guests to provide "entertainment" for one another. Meaning that before dessert was served, each guest had to get up in front of everyone and preform something or other. There were lots of dirty jokes told, songs sung, humorous memories recounted. But then there were those who took this much more seriously. Old ladies with original poems clutched in their hands, a skit preformed by a newly remarried couple. And then there was the lawyer, who brought with him thirty photographs of poisonous spiders, and proceeded to lecture about them. Needless to say, it took well over an hour for all the guests to preform. Some party.
My response to my Uncle: Have you written your best-seller satire yet?
Oooh break. Just long enough for me to slowly ease into my summer sleep patterns. Just short enough to end right when I become fully nocturnal. Funfun. Currently I'm going to bed at 2 and getting up at 12. But my true summer schedule was go to bed at 3, get up at 2. And then New Years gets thrown in there. All in all, I probably will pull an all nighter, fall asleep at 10am Monday, sleep till 8, and then be fucked for school and homework. Boy am I looking forward to that.
I've seen a lot of movies lately. Went and saw AVPR on Christmas day. Perfect Holiday film, what with its lack of a plot and plethora of slicing, ripping, shooting, disintegrating, exploding, and any other verb associated with mindless killing.
Also saw Golden Compass. Dear god, give me back my $7.25. Never have I seen something so good be ruined so badly. It was out of order, misinterpreted, and ended before the actual ending, all because the director wanted a feel-good ending. Fuckfuckfuck. Evan and I both bashed our heads against our seats thoroughly and frequently during the film.
Then I was reunited with Transformers and 300. Both fantastic.
Now I just have to see I Am Legend. Any takers?
Speaking of His Dark Materials... I need to read the third one again. Two down, one to go. One to find actually.
Sigh, people need to be up later. That way I don't waste my time rambling on a blog. Instead I could be interacting with real people.
Too bad it's cold out, and I can't go chill at the lake.
Summer needs to make a comeback.
