Future plot idea related to the Darkness
So these wouldn't be immediate at all since the Being Human event is in effect, rendering the possibility of such null, but some of the plot events are inspired by the characters canons, right?
For the folks not familiar with Alan Wake's canon, there's this being called The Darkness that resides in Cauldron Lake. It relies on creative people to gain power. These can be artists, engineers, writers, anything that has some sort of creative influence. The Darkness makes creative works come true, but it also twists and manipulates it to its own advantage so that it becomes stronger. It can either work indirectly through the person, just touching them ever so lightly, so that they aren't even aware, or it can numb their mind to a greater point where they are enough of a pawn that can be controlled, but aware enough that they can still write.
For everyone else, if the Darkness cannot use them to grow stronger, then the Darkness corrupts them into being mindless murderers. These are the Taken. The Taken are invincible when shrouded in Darkness, and the only way to stop them is to burn away the Darkness with light. People who have been touched by darkness can be saved, but Taken are so far gone that sometimes they mutate and aren't even human anymore.
Alan wrote the manuscript Departure while he was controlled by the Darkness, in which all the events that he had written came to life in Bright Falls. Some are even pages about the shapes that the Darkness takes, different kinds of Taken, or they're memories of Alan's past. Potentially if such an event happened, people could start finding manuscript pages around about themselves or other characters, and the few pages here and there that explain what is going on and what sort of Taken they might encounter.
People could even volunteer to have their characters be touched by the Darkness as well, or even become a full-on Taken until the end of the event. Due to the fact that the Taken models are re-used throughout the games, if any player offered to have their character become Taken, if they are killed, they could re-spawn throughout the event at the will of the player.
