Diana Abel - Open to All diana_abel July 2 2012, 12:23:15 UTC
The advantage to being the evening's entertainment was that Diana didn't have to worry about pretending to eat or drink. She didn't have to stress over not having a date and it didn't matter if no one asked her to dance (not that anyone was really dancing anyway). Indeed, she ran long sets, playing everything from "Twist and Shout" to "Send in the Clowns." Pretty much anything with a beat that could be danced to. Slow songs. Fast songs. Rock songs. Showtunes. Diana had an impressive memory when it came to music and she was, admittedly, showing off a little bit.

It was better than allowing herself to think too much.

Between sets, while iPods played, she sat on a table near the sound system, tuning her guitar and trying as hard as she could to look busy. She fussed with her dress and patted down her hair. And she kept her eyes low, glancing up only occasionally to observe the two distinct packs that seemed to be forming, Stark's group and Jack's group ( ... )

Tony's Stark's group was more like a group of two...he and his date. For whatever reason, Stark wasn't going anywhere near his usual compatriots. They seemed just fine with that too.

"You sounded fantastic!" The voice behind Diana was typical. Soft. Happy. He could always manage to sound happy, no matter the situation. It was a skill.

Jack knows how to dress up when he needs to, though there had been some slim pickings by the time he got to the supply closet. The checked shirt didn't look too bad though. Ianto approved.

"What are you doing by yourself in that dress?"

Diana turned to look at him, her eyes lighting up in her uniquely genuine way. There was something about Jack that always managed to make her feel better. He reminded her of her father. Which was probably something to discuss with an analyst. But not in the middle of a party.

"Playing the guitar," she replied with a bit of a laugh. "Of the two uses for this thing," she held up the handle a little bit, gesturing to the hilt of the sword within, "I daresay this is the better one."

Ironically, she was probably more skilled with the sword half than she was with the music at the end of the day. But that was one more truth Diana preferred to ignore.

She gave him a quick once-over. "You look like the cover of GQ."

"And you are wrinkling that beautiful dress by sitting all the way over here." No one was dancing. Ianto was running around playing host with Kenzi and Donna and Phil Coulson of all people. That gave Jack some time to mingle. It was a nice night. The air was balmy for July. The stars were out... Though Jack didn't really like the patterns above them. They were completely wrong.

But then again, they had been for months now.

He leaned down a bit and offered Diana one of his massive hands. "Put the guitar down and let's show you off."

Sure, they were stuck in some weird hellhole and had almost been murdered by tentacle and pig monkeys and all other kind of insane things - then again, wasn't that a typical day out with the Doctor? Best to make the most of whatever peace and quiet that came their way and Donna always loved a good party, and this party was for a very good cause. Poor Martin. He died a true hero.

Donna had gone outfit searching the moment she heard there was a party being planned. She loved the dress, but she kept running her hands over it nervously - maybe she should've tried to lose a few pounds first...

She hadn't found a date - she hadn't really expected to. Oh well. At least her cakes had turned out well. And there was music and booze. Hopefully nothing would ruin the night.

"You look lovely," John informed her from behind, tapping her shoulder with a playful smile. Ever the dutiful son. Yes, he had dressed up and yes his bowtie was wonky and his red shoes didn't overly go with the form look but he was there and happy. He was taking a break from his techs just to say hi because he always had to say hi to Donna.

Her life had come to this. Getting compliments from her son. Oh, she was officially past it. Son compliments are what women got when they were well passed their best and the son felt it their duty to make said mum feel better.

She gave a smile, running her hands down her dress again. "Not too blokey then?" She knew she shouldn't take the words in the paper to heart, but it was a crushing blow to her already low self-image.

Hey, he wasn't totally just her son. He was a hand clone who could appreciate things like a well dressed women, she was so not passed it. He grinned and bounced on the balls of his feet, shaking his head with determination. "You look great, don't let that paper get to you. They called Rose a call girl. And if you're, you know, too blokey then I guess I'm too girly?"

They were in all of this together and Handy was happy to take the role of trans if Donna had too. "Does this mean I can get away with wearing pink now?"

Now that Kenzi was off being...Kenzi... Harry had a moment to look around. He hadn't been in touch with the Dean in two days and it was worrying. Yeah, the Advisor was always wrong but seriously?

Canned via tabloid? And his boss wasn't answering the phone? Harry tried not to look too awkward in his tux. Unfortunately, that probably wasn't possible. The man looked gangly.

"You have the look of a man who really doesn't want to be dressed up."

Sam came up beside Harry, offering him a flask from his jacket.

Harry was always happy to see Sam, this was no different occasion. "I think you're projecting," he teased and took a swallow before handing the flask back.

[those are some nice tentacles there, Harry... XD]

"I wouldn't be surprised if I was," he chuckled, leaning against the wall next to the man. "Kenzi gave me an earful for taking you to the bar while she had to find all the dresses by herself. Not that she didn't have a team helping her, but your absence was duly noted."

To Sam - outside his door... will make it to party very quickly we hope.. notrosesshadow July 2 2012, 13:32:30 UTC
"Sam! It's just a party. Please will you come?"

Martha was standing outside Sam's door in a black dress patterned with flowers she'd found. She'd have to thank Mr Harry Summers when she saw him for finding all the clothes.

So she was all dressed up and, instead of actually going to the party, she was working on Sam to leave his room. "It'll be fun. If for no other reason then this is probably the only time you'll ever see me in a dress. And heels."

There was a suit jacket hanging on the back of his door. One of the recovery team members had thrown it at him and remarked that it would hopefully fit his large frame. He was sitting on his desk, staring at it and just closing his eyes.

He didn't want to go. He really didn't want to go because all it would be would be people standing in a room chatting and dancing and he always felt awkward in rooms full of people.

Dressed up people.

But he couldn't just let Martha stand in the hallway and yell at him through the door, so he opened it to let her in. He was wearing the pants and a nice shirt already, in his socks, and looking put out.

"I'm not a party person."

Martha's about to knock again when suddenly the door opens and there's Sam looking very dashing. She's not gaping... not at all... but she is definitely a little tongue-tied at first.

"See, you look great! You'll be fine. Now come on. It beats blood, guts, and slime. And slime really wreaks havoc with my hair."

As he turns around, he realizes just what she is wearing and it takes him a moment to remember how to form words again. he just swallows and reaches for the tie, focusing on getting it tied around his neck.

Not thinking about it as a noose. Not at all.

"Well, the last party this place had was invaded by a zombie, so don't be too sure about that."

Elle had seen one of the others grab the dress she'd wanted, but in the end, it hadn't been a problem. It seemed the woman had learned how the barter system worked after all - Elle gets the dress, and the woman gets to live.

Elle enters the room and haunts the edges of the open space in the middle. She's seen enough movies to know that that's where people go to die. Or dance, depending on the movie. Either way, she'll avoid that section for now, thanks.

Tony slipped a glass around her. It was filled with cherrie of all things, but it caught the light and hopefully her attention. "My would be stylist. Hello."

Elle jumped with a start as the glass seemed to appear out of nowhere, but she recognized the voice and grinned, plucking it from his hand and holding it up to him in a toast. "The one that got away. Hello."

"Not too far away." He chuckled and slipped one hand into his pocket. "You look fantastic." He didn't remember her name or he'd had slipped that in there. "Your little gothic rival didn't do a terrible job."
