Children, let's discuss the colours:
Except rainbow's there are others,
Let us start with simple grey,
Which is made in white-black's play.
Sable, ebony, some others
Are black too, but who would bother
Learning those in years at school?
Oh, I guess they're far less cool.
So which ones you've learned before
Exiting your schoolroom's door?
Yellow, red and blue are those,
Which are basic I suppose.
Mixing these in diff'rent manner
Lets you paint the Star Spang'd Banner.
You can get some vivid green,
Orange, purple, pink, I mean
"Primaries" (both black and white)
Are a mix of three all right.
"Hue" and "tint" too stand for colour
Far more bookish though, I wonder
If brown, azure, hazel, bluish
All are known to you? How foolish
Would it be for me to think
I'm alone one knowledge's brink.
Some tints' usage is more plain,
Certain others earned less fame:
Blood is crimson, carmine (red);
Pale and lurid are for dead.
Face - vermilion in terror,
Fists get pallid to the marrow.
Dear young reader, I am sorry
For describing things so gory.
Yet, my fellow, scared be not -
Casting fear is not my plot.
Humble quest of mine's complete
And in future, when we'll meet
It is you who'll teach me new
About colour, tint and hue.
