For those of you who know me and my church situation, you know I don't look too kindly on it. yes, I am a rainbow girl, and that means i should follow some religion, any religion. But i was kicked out of Catholic church for not attending meetings-- while my father was having his kidney problems, or as you might put it, dieing.

Since them I've rarely been in a church. I've attended a couple masses recently at my stepmother's Methodist church. And even uncomfortably accepted communion-- i wouldn't have received this in Catholic church because i was never confirmed. I thought I'd finally found a church I could belong to when I decide to read their newsletter. And I find this.

"Tuesday, Nov 7th is election day. It is an opportunity brave men and women gae their lives to provide and maintain. It is also a responsibility that comes with the blessing of living in America. And it is the response every follower of Jesus owes to the Savior, who came to change the world.

What is at stake in this election?

In short, whether RI will be a state where we value godliness and morality over all else" (Now they've sort of pissed me off.)

"Will we allow the scourage that is casino gambling?
Will we provide hope to the homeless?
Will we put in leadership roles who will redefine family, given the oppurtunity?
Will we endorse candidates who support the continuation of abortion on demand?
Will we support political aims and policies that consider the 'least of these,' our brothers and sisters for whom life is hard?
Will we take steps toward immigration policies that have both compassion and national security on mind?"

Now I'm pissed. There is a seperation of church and state for just this reason. Mind you I agree with the providing hope to the homeless, better immigration policies, and the thing about the brothers and sisters. But "the scourage that is casino gambling"? First of all it's the casino we're voting on, NOT the people who will be playing in the casino. But I haven't yet to decide on a side for this issue so I won't critize too much.

But thing like "redefining a family" what does that mean? And who exactly defines a family? A man and a woman? 30% of children under 18 are abused. 30%!! I would rather have a child in a same-sex family then stuck in a hateful home because "that's not the way 'god' defines family". Isn't a family just LOVE??? who needs more or less then that??

"Abortion on demand"?? sorry I can't even say anything or I may get so pissed I'll throw up.

So I guess it's back to sleeping or working on sundays.

<3 me
