I generally try to donate blood around the major holidays. Demand goes up (traffic accidents) and donor supply goes down (many people are too busy to donate). Sometimes I can do this in conjunction with cons (i.e. Memorial Day = BayCon), but I wasn't eligible for BayCon. I can't donate, or I would. There are blood drives around here quite often, and I already know they don't want my blood. (It's the kidney failure.) charlesks can't donate, either, because he spent 3 years in England (1988-1991) and ate beef. Nobody in his family can donate except to each other, for just that reason.
