confusing

I don't like or want this war.

The sensationalist headlines on cnn.com are almost more distressing in their nature and tone than their content. Almost.

But can it be stopped without making things worse? I'd love to hear how. Now that it's begun, I'm afraid that stopping it without some sort of definite conclusion could be even more disastrous than continuing.

I hate this. Now we're stuck with war. Now we're stuck with a UN with no teeth. How do you stop human rights violations? When do you use force? Where is that line? Not that it matters, I see no possible way that can be the actual motivation for any of this. But those are real questions that someone really does need to answer.

Is it worth it to keep pushing for peace or should all of us peace-niks move on to pushing for the observance of human rights and for someone to be held responsible for rebuilding.

One thing I really can't believe is listening to Bush or Rumsfeld telling the Iraqis not to destroy their oil wells. They say it's because that oil will be the currency on which they can rebuild, but I just can't see how they can utter those words and expect to be taken seriously. The words beneath the surface "don't destroy what will make us richer" just seem so prominent. Everything they say seems like a big joke, aimed at the stupid american populace. They just forget how much of that populace is more intelligent than our president.

Blargh.

Thanks to Anne in advance for inviting people over tonight.
