She looked around the room, the alcohol seemed to be everywhere. Worst of all, it was with him. She had left him for maybe less than two months, and he had changed.
"Does anybody know that one song.. it goes... " he sang wildly.
She blinked. What happened? This wasn't him at all. She watched him quietly as he left the room.
"Are you alright?" a mutual friend asked
"Yeah," she replied a lie to answer
She looked at the clock, she had to leave. She stood up, said goodbye, and told the mutual friend to say bye to him for her. As she stepped out the door, she noticed him coming back, so she hurried to get to her car. No such luck.
"Wait!" he said, so she did.
They stood there in the cold for what it seemed like a lifetime.
"Why are you doing this?" she asked.
He looked in to her glassy eyes, "I.. don't know. I've let you down, haven't I?"
"I never thought that you would do this," she tried to hold back her tears.
He embraced her, and she gladly embraced him back.
"I'm not cold anymore," he said.
"Me either," she smiled.
