I wrote a sci fi / death fic for the Pros. A private sort of story I don't plan to post. (I have been in the mood for death fic lately for some reason.)
How about you? Ever write stuff that's just for you?
My 'Chocolate Hutch' is now more than 30,000 words long :) Yes, I do write just for myself. 90% of what I write is just for myself because I feel bad when I have to bother a beta-reader with my futile attempts to make the English greammar work in my stories, so I don't post it.
I wish you didn't feel that way. :/ Surely it's not a bother if they offer to help? I understand not wanting to share some things but if you want to and people are willing to help, why not? :) p.s. I am.
I think that the beta-readers should concentrate on helping people who can write. Right now I like it the way it is - writing just for myself and not bothering about unpleasant comments and about what is mainstream right now. For some reason the stories I write recently make me very, very happy and I’m not going to try to fix something what works. I think it’s because I finally accepted certain things about my writing and that if I want to read something I should write it myself. I need to be me to be happy and this way I am :)
Most of my stuff is written for me. Or for tears-of-nienna, my partner in crime. There are a lot of allusions and jokes in my stuff that is purely there for my own enjoyment; if other people catch the references it's a bonus, not the point. Posting fic is mostly to encourage me to finish because then it has a fixed end point.
