So last Friday was really sweet. Texas Cru 90s party. Three other guys and I were a boy band (a fictional christian boy band, the D ciplz). Green was our theme color (Patrick (aka Justin) had a lime green jump suit, Jason (aka Lance had a red vest with a green John Deere bandanna), Andrew (aka Joey had a green camo vest), and I (aka JC had a green Miami Hurricanes football jersey). We all had black wind pants (except for Justin (Patrick)) and cheap sunglasses with different colored frames (well, the part around the ear). We did a little dance to "Tearin Up My Heart" and then a girl (Rosanna I believe) put on "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time On You" and we all group slow danced like a bunch of 6th graders. It was sweet. The ride back was really cool. The winding darkest country road, smell of evergreen, the stars above, the city lights below, my feet weren't on the dash (backseat) but it was almost all there.
Saturday
Underclassmen vs. Upperclassmen Football Game. We were the heavy underdogs and were expected to get whomped by the stronger, bigger, more athletic Juniors and Seniors. We played tackle cause there were no flags (haha). Sam is a beast, he bowled me over once. I didn't do much on offense but I recovered a fumble on defense (I played lineman (tenacious pass defense)) and I tackled the QB at the line of scrimmage. That's about it. But we won 3-1. We have heart, baby! So after the lesson in humility, the uppers took a lap in their skivvies.
I went to the Ransom notes concert with some studioites (Tracie, Adam, Amber, Heather) and a Cruite (Erin). They were really awesome (they're a coed acapella group). Some of the songs they sang were: "Video Killed the Radio Star"- The Buggles, "Carry Me"- Patty Griffin, "Father Figure"- George Micheal, "Stay"- Dave Matthews Band, "Landslide"- Fleetwood Mac, "For Me This Is Heaven"- Jimmy Eat World, "Superstition"- Stevie Wonder, "Soul to Squeeze"- Red Hot Chili Peppers. That was cool.
I then went to Joey's and Kyle's room to watch the Rockets game (if you can call it a game). Jess was there too. Megan came a little later. Let's just say the highlight was friends, pizza, and The Sandlot (which I guess is pretty good). Oh, we made note that the camera was under the beast many times when it jumped and Kyle said that they were showing off the beast's beast like genitalia, so this week's Suave Word of the Week is "Beast-like-genitalia".
Sunday
Woke up really late (3 pm), went to church for the last time til next school year. Well, last time at Stone, I'll go to Lakewood United Methodist this summer. Anyway, we ate at Jimmy John's Sandwich shop afterwards, then went to Spider House (coffee place), then to the stadium (Cab and Nathan's house (stadium seating in the living room (it's so cool, a little like Abigail's rumpus room, but 3 levels of couches))). We watched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and all was good.
"that you should put away the old personality which conforms to your former course of conduct and which is being corrupted according to his deceptive desires; but that you should be made new in the force actuating your mind, and should put on the new personality which was created according to God's will in true righteousness and loyalty." Ephesians 4:22-24.
