So our room is now freezing, which is awesome. We adjusted the vent and we took out the filter, so we are dusty and cold (but like the old saying goes, "it's better to be dusty and cold than clean and hot." I think we all know who said that. haha. That's not the chill I've been talking about. I've just been laid back the past couple of days. It feels good, but my studio work might be suffering, but I have a loose grasp on things. All this week (except Monday) I've been going to Res Week (Resurrection Week (a Christian sponsored event featuring live music by local artist, painters, and Don Miller (author of several books "Blue Like Jazz" is one that I'm starting to read)). He is a great speaker and has a way of thinking that is different than most people. He grew up in a Christian household, became agnostic around freshman year in college, but returned to the faith later.
We need to ask more why questions, not how questions.
Second thing God creates after the heavens and the earth is light. God is like light (not in the traditional metaphor of light=good (hope,direction)), but in the sense that we cannot really understand light. We don't know what it is. We can see it's effects (illumination, reflecting) but we don't really know what it is.
He talked about so many things and they all blew my mind (he's really funny too).
Today he talked about Shakespeare and Romeo and Juliet and how it was about more than love between a man and a woman.
"So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called,
Retain that dear perfection which he owns
Without that title. Romeo, get rid of thy name;
And in exchange for your name which is no part of thee, Take all myself."
Juliet is Jesus, Romeo is man. Real people don't ask these things (give up who you are, give up your family, your reputation (pride), take me, be one with me (and real people don't respond to this by saying, "This is true")). This is God asking this, asking for marriage, asking for unity.
Tuesday was great (going back to Tuesday). Talked with J Higs, Brian (awesome roommate bonding stuff), and Tracie (studioite) (separately) about how each of us came to believe. I didn't mind not studying, the conversations were too enriching.
We've been basketball playin fools this week. Monday (street ball with the suitemates Matt and Francisco), Wed (gym ball with (Fran)Cisco and his friends. We saw PJ Tucker, Dion Dowell, Colin ___, Kenny Taylor, and some other guy from the school basketball team playing next to us (Dion and Kenny actually came over and started shooting with us). That was cool. Tonight, Matt, Brian, and I played at the gym again with some guys we met there.
Well, I need to get to bed to get up early and finish the work I didn't do tonight. Then some basketball with Joey, Brian, and Matt tomorrow and the last night of Res Week.
Until next time, T-O-D-D OUT!.....sucka
Jubilee is the SWOTW.
